paris Paris is sooo beautiful. I love the architecture and there is soooo much to see here. I tend to really enjoy things at night and I was pleasantly surprised last night to see the Eifel tower sparkling with the twinkling lights. I got here in the early evening and walked to my hostel near the Louvre. After unloading I walked in the area, got a crepe at a creperie and then took the metro to the Eifel Tower. I hung out for about 2 hours and then walked back. I was accompanied by a guy from Morocco that found me and then would not leave. It was overwhelming really.
This morning I got up and went straight to the Louvre where I walked around for 4 hours. Although i did not see EVERYTHING, I think I saw all that I wanted to. I wish i could take home the old furniture and of course the jewels. MOM YOU WOULD HAVE LOVED IT! The crowns and brooches and diamonds galore were beautiful, the chandeliers also. I saw little Mona Lisa and all the silly people with their camera flash reflecting off the glass. It was fun to see more of the
art I had studied in Art History and just smile as I studied it again.
My camera died at the end so I did not yet get a picture outside the pyramid, but I will, I have to, I am a tourist! lol
I walked more and more and then took a cat nap while the battery charged. I decided to go find Notre Dame which is in the middle of the river. I was quite happy to find that at 930 pm they open it free for people to come in. I went and found dinner at a vegetarian place that was outrageously priced like everything in Paris and then headed back to Notre Dame. They showed a video that was subtitled in English about the history and the making of the Cathedral. It was a neat experience to learn more about Notre Dame while sitting inside it. It was dark out so it was also dark inside. I could not see the mosaics, but I think it added to the ambience.
I am now at my net hang out, 6 dollars for an hour. Oh well, I am trying to not go crazy over money
here, this is the place I knew I would spend a lot and here I accept it. I am still careful though. Again I have purchased fruit and I keep it with me for lunch or snacks.
Only 3 weeks left... sigh...
It will be so sad to leave Europe and the friends I have made, I hope to see them again.
