We just finished our first week at Six Berry Lake. We have been having a marvelous time. We started the week by catching up with our good friend Amy and her three children. We had a nice time relaxing by the lake. Her kids had a wonderful time catching frogs, fishing, and swimming.

Later in the week, Carey arrived with some friends of Kristen’s and his from their hometown of Oneonta. Cameron and Sue were a lot of fun. Cameron was born in Scotland and lived there for the first 25 years of his life. His stories describing the scenery, cities, and debauchery of soccer games had us quite excited. Although the experience that lies ahead still does not feel real. I’m not sure I’m going to believe it until I’m sitting in Joanna’s house in Glasgow.

I’ve managed to squeeze in a couple of rounds of golf while here and imagine a couple more are in my future. The weather has been nice, not too humid and lots of very loud thunderstorms. The loons are calling every night. The sound of them calling and the wind in the trees as I fall asleep have a very calming effect and make for a good night’s sleep. Or maybe it’s all the good scotch my dad and father in-law keep buying me. Either way, I continue to long for my friends from Eugene and hope you are all doing well.

Tomorrow Elizabeth, Camille, and I are going into Alexandria Bay. We are going to go on a tour of the St. Lawrence Seaway and visit Boldt Castle. I’ll be sure to include some pictures of the area in my next entry. Hopefully some nice photos will entice a Eugene Family Retreat to the area in the summer of ’09.

P.S. Chris, I’ll be sure to inquire about the direction that the St. Lawrence flows. I suspect though that you may be right yet again. My last golf outing was on one of the islands and as I looked down off the bridge on my way there I had a sinking feeling that my impassioned argument in Nicaragua was nothing but drunken banter. Well the sun is setting over the lake and my scotch glass is empty, peace.
