We all knew Friday was going to be a long day, so we relaxed with some good ole Law & Order Thursday night. Lyndsey, apparently still feeling the effects of her flight passed out at 8 p.m. Friday came all too early for all of us and we went our separate ways for the day. Mary Neill had to go through her application process for her job, Lynds had her first day of work, and I had to attend an 8 hour course on responsible service of alcohol (its required for every waitressing job in New South Wales).
So I made my way into the city (now feeling like a true big citier) on the ferry expecting the most uneventful day of our trip yet. I will not bore yall with the details, but after listening to hours of talking, talking, and more talking, I was awarded my certificate. It was a great feeling and brought me one step closer to fulfilling my dream of being a waitress over here haha. We decided to celebrate myself getting the certification, Lynds having a good first day at her waitressing job, and MN having her job as well with going out and checking out the Sydney nightlife. Our friend Simon, introduced to us by Marti, had told us to meet him at this place called Cruise Bar. All we knew was that we had to take the ferry there. As we were riding the ferry to Sydney (let me say how beautiful it was at night with the Harbour Bridge & Opera House being lit up) we noticed this really cool place that had all these people in it as well as being very bright and happening. We made a mental note to definitely visit this place in the future.
When we got off the ferry, we asked someone where Cruise Bar and if you haven’t figured it out by now, then I’ll tell you that it was that awesome looking place we saw on the way over. When we made the way to the door we couldn’t get over how cool it was. This was my first experience at big city nightlife and “chic” defined this cool place. All the walls and furniture were white with lights going off everywhere. A great band was playing and people were everywhere. The best part was on the porch, where you had a great view of the Opera House. It was surreal! We stayed there for a while before heading off to a place we had only heard fantastic things about, The Establishment.
We made our way to downtown Sydney and were so excited to walk into this place. If we thought the last place was chic and cool, this place blew it out of the water. Beautiful columns lined the inside with an outside porch that had really cool lights and was glassed in. We definitely were in the place where the rich and beautiful were to be found. This ended up being our last stop for the night as we didn’t want to leave and shut the place down. The night was topped off when, as we got out of the taxi, we passed the pizzeria that is right next door to our apartment. We went in to check it out and Lynds passed this guy walking out. She asked him if the pizza was good here. He said yes, and from there Lynds proceeded to open his pizza box take a slice and run. I can’t put into words how hilarious this was. So, after this we called it a night!
Sorry for no pics, but we sadly forgot our cameras!!!
