I spy London Eye
Thirty-Two glass modules
Going round and round.

I made it to the London Eye this morning. The line ups weren't too long but long enough! I really hate to have to wait. I think that the line ups were moving slowly because they have to inspect everyone's bags before entering the glass module. Once in the air conditioned module we were off! This giant Ferris wheel takes about 30 minutes to go around once and provides some excellent views of the city. Although the entry fee was quite pricey, I thought it was worth it especially since the weather was nice and sunny. I splurged the extra £3 and bought the pictorial souvenir booklet that depicts all of the sights that can be seen from all directions. A bonus was that there were a couple of locals in the car and they were giving a bit of a commentary as well.

After disembarking the London Eye I walked over to the Victoria Embankment area again for an early lunch. There’s nothing too exciting to write about, a PBJ sandwich, fruit and cookies. Gotta save a buck! lol

From there I took the train to
Tower BridgeTower BridgeTower Bridge

Not the London Bridge as I originally labelled this photo...whoops! Thanks for the clarification Andrea!
Tower Hill and headed over to the Tower of London. Boy was it hot standing around waiting for the free guided tour given by a Yeoman Warder (aka Beefeater.) Our guide had quite a dry sense of humour and presenting some facts on the tower in quite an interesting manner. Must have been good if even me, with the limited attention span found the tour interesting. lol

After the one hour tour was over I just wandered around the grounds checking out the White Tower, Bloody Tower and the Crown Jewels. There was quite a bit to see here and for the price I paid I was gonna stay there for at least a couple of hours to get my monies worth!

Once I had enough of the Tower of London I headed over to the Tower Bridge and took a walk over the bridge. When I started walking over the bridge my first thought was..."wow, I'm walking over the London Bridge (well actually the Tower Bridge)! Hope it doesn't fall down." haha I actually ended up walking back over the Tower Bridge since the tube station I wanted to take, Tower Hill was back where I had begun. No biggie, always good to get a bit of exercise.

Since I had an all day bus pass I thought I'd take advantage of that fact and took the train to Victoria Station to find out the meeting place for tomorrow mornings tour. Gotta "be prepared!" I'm glad I did this because it would have sucked if I was wandering around in the morning and was running behind AND lugging my big backpack.

I made it back to the hostel and felt really drained. But a quick shower helped me to regain that refreshed feeling! I talked to my dormmate Caitlan who is from LaConner, WA while I organized my stuff in my bags. I plan on leaving one of my backpacks at the hostel and was trying to lighten the load.

Since the weather was so nice out Caitlan and I hung out outside to enjoy the setting sun. Caitlan is on a year long research project on Tall Ships. She'll be heading up to New Castle in the next couple of days in hopes of getting on board one of the tall ships and work for a bit to gain some experience. While we were outside chatting Caitlan was busy working on a bunch of knots. She makes it look so easy!
