Tuesday, July 10, 2007 Another rainy day. We had an exciting start to the day by doing laundry. I got that out of the way first thing.
After lunch we did some hiking around the Mendenhall Glacier. It rained pretty heavy, but we were dressed for it. The temperature was good for hiking, not too warm. I heard there has been a heat wave in the lower 48. Yesterday and today temps averaged 56-58 degrees. It was a good 3 mile hike and there were some nice views of the glacier. The old growth forest reminded us of Prince Rupert. This is one of the moss capitals of the northwest. It grows over everything. When it runs out of ground it grows up the trees.
We were a bit soggy when we got back to CT. Frank rigged up a clothes line this evening because hooks are at a premium. We turned up the heat and now we’re cooking! We heard the rain is supposed to be heavy tomorrow.
