Kuala Lumpur. The first big city since Bangkok. What was is going to be like? Good, Bad, Ugly?
The answer: delightful!

A city more similar to Hong Kong than Bangkok. The transport system is fantastic, only a few pence to get across the city on the underground. There is a lot of greenery, the people are not only pleasant, but are the friendliest we have met (a few days ago a bus ticket seller ran after a western girl who had left a camera on his bus). It is also home to the Petronas towers, formerlly the tallest building in the world (taken by Taipei 101 in 2004), still the tallest twin towers. The most awe inspiring thing is the relative lack of high rise in the area. New York and Hong Kong are home to several tall buildings which give some aspect to the view. These things are there with nothing around.
Of course we went up to the skybridge, and of course we went up the KL tower to see what all the fuss was about, but what interested us was at the base of the towers.

KLCC is a mall situated around the base of the
Petronas
towers. It has 6 stories and just about everything you need. Including a cinema (I had forgotten about such things). So we decided to chill out and take in some flicks. For some reason Transformers was released in Asia 4 weeks before the west. It is well worth a watch!. Also saw Die Hard 4.0. We were going to stay and watch Malaysia play China in the Asian Nations cup that is being staged in Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia (4 hosts for a major tournament!)

KL was also a chance to catch up with 2 people from previous places. We first met joe in Saigion and have been bumping into him everywhere. KL was his last stop so we had some beers. Jeff was a Dive Master trainee at Ko Tao and was waiting on a Bangladesh visa. Good to catch up!

But its getting to that time of year again. I'm gonna be another year older and have to find somewhere interesting to spend it. How about the best dive site in the world!
