Saturday 07/07/07:
Daily team meeting at 9.30am with discussion of prior day's activities and arrangements for 1pm demonstration of board rescue paddling and rescue techniques as well as one man drag and resuscitation with members of the Phuket Lifeguards. This was followed by flag events and successful participation of Thai v Aussie competitors.
Celebration of Wallabies victory at Aussie Bar ( Rude St) was followed by dinner with Thai Lifeguards at Andaman Lifesaving H.Q. We were surprised to be informed by Kit ( 2IC ) lifeguard , they have 56 paid lifeguards and approximately 50 volunteers patrolling 12 beaches ( we believe ).
Made contact with Larry Cunningham ( Australian Consulate ) who has confirmed his acceptance of our invitation to the award ceremony of Lifeguards once training has taken place.
Finding some difficulty in contacting Carolyn Srikaow ( Kathy Glinsky’s sister) on PhiPhi Island.
