awww we catch the night train to Paris tonight after 3 days in Berlin! i'm so sad to leave but excited for Paris!!! hmmm..where to begin with Berlin.....
well we arrived early morning off a night train and it took us forever to find our hostel...after dropping off our bags we went to an internet cafe and then had some lunch at a local cafe!! the ketchup in Germany by the way is like curry falvoured...not sure if i like it!! the nice thing about all of europe is that EVERYONe eats mayo with their fries!! haha i fit in YESSSS!!! like on pics of fries on billboards they have a pile of mayo in them haha!! i should just move here forever..hmmm...maybe lol and just to fit in with the mayo crazz!!!
anyway....after lunch we offcially checked in to our hostel and took a 5 hour nap ( no sleep on night train) the hostel was really nice!!!! and when we woke up we went for a walk around berlin...well, the area we were staying in and then went back and drank beer at the bar in our hostel..and wow is it EVER cheap!! haha and mallory asked for a popiscle and nobody even knew what it was and when we told them they were like..nonono we call that icecream and we say..oh in north america its a popisicle and then they made us say it agian so all the staff could laugh at the word popiscle!! so what do they call regular icecream then??? our way makes way more sense!!! anyway we kinda just stayed in at our hostel and got drunk off cheap beer then passed out!! the next morning we got up and tried to figure out the metro system..which by the way thee don't officially have..they call it the s-bahn and its kinda like a super train that mostly goes overground and underground too on a diff line...so bacially like a go_train and a subway but noooooo when i asked the info booth the guy made it VERY clear that its not metro...not too sure what thats all about! anyway...it wasn't too hard to figure out by the end of the day!!! the names are different...lol and interesting to say....not sure if we even said one german work correct our whole stay!!! anyway we found our way to this one station where we were being picked up for a guided tour of Berlin where we saw everying basicaLLY and it was really interesting and made me think sooo differenty about Berlin and how much they have changed and iäm so proud for their changes!!! the Berlin wall being the most interesting story and thing we saw i think!!! then mals and i went out for dinner and ate the most yummy sandwhiches EVER!!!
that night we were gonna do a pubcrawl but i was sooooo sick and mals was tired and then i took some meds for my cold and i got soo drugged up i actaully felt drunk and kinda like i was floating...so i lay in bed and kinda giggled to myself till 1am and we fell asleep!!
then next morning we got up early and checked out of our hostel!!! we then decided it was a drag to carry our backpaikcs around with us...they weight a TON and i am so sore from them!!! so we decide to bring them to the station, book our night train and then meet up with the tour group agian for a different tour!!! except after a few stops on the S_Bahn an announcment is said through the speakers and the train stops and EVERYONE gets out..so mals and i are just sitting there being like ....hmmm...are we suppose to get off!!! lol so we get off looking very confused when this guy comes up to us in very bad english and says...strike!! we're like...umm.STRIKE!!! and he tries to explain the best he could that yes infact the S_Bahn workers wanted higher wages and they have no gone on strike!! LOL so we are like...ohhhh fuck!!! right now???? lol!!! so this nice guy bring us downstairs and getsa the info guy to print off a bus scedule for us that involves getting on a bus on some platform we did not know....then getting off at some random station..then walking to another sation from there we did not know..then catching a bus going east from there...till we reach our station....mabye....ummmm LOL ya right! i coulnd't have done that even in toronto!!!! but this really nice and cute guy helped us out which was good cuz some of the bus's were not running as normal cuz of the strike too....lol he took us on one crazy maze adventure!!! it was really nice of him since he waan't even going our way!! THANK GOD WE ARE GIRLS!!! so we get to our station and put our bags in lockers and book our tickets, haVE A tea then meet our tour group for an AWESOME and very sad tour of a concentraion camp outside Berlin! WOW! it was soo horrible to hear how they tortured them that and at points i just wanted to walk away and not think about it...and then to see all the torture chambers and the rooms and the grounds...it made me wanna cry and puke (and unlike history class you can't just close your text book....its right there in front of you...i was seeing the nail they hung them on..the gas chambers....the ground they we forced to work on and then later be shot top death on....the beds they lay in starving to death as they fell asleep!!) I just can't believe how much times have changed in Germany and that people had to go through the concentration camps...surviving then or not!! and all cuz of their sexuality or religion or cuz of their politaical views...and even when it was for criminal reasons it was still the worst kinda torture imaginable!! the criminals actaully got treated the best..jews and homosexuals got treated the worst!!! and what for?? its so ridiculous how horrible people can be to people cuz of indifference and for the sake of power!! it was such a great tour...very very serious!!
soooo....after the tour these random and very cute guys walk up to us and say...so where you from..and we start up a conversation with them ( this kinda thing happens ten times a day with all sorta people) but these guys were the FUNNIEST guys EVER) somehow we start talking about backpacking..they are too..and Canada and America and the tour...then after a while of talking we're like...HEY what are your names? and they're like...Terry, Shawn and Balfoy!!! LOL mallory and i kinda sat there for a sec and then burst out laughing...and then we're like..those ryme with Harry potter names!! and they start laughing cuz obviously those are not their names....get it? Harry..Terry...Ron..Shawn....Malfoy..BALFOY? LOL and somehow this turned into the longest laughing fit we have ever had with strangers!! i still don't know their real names and when they asked us ours i said Sadie cuz i miss my kitty and mallory said Lavendor and thats what they called us...then they said they were gonna help us find our way back but instead we all got lost and i swear to god just laughed with them for an hour and a half...then i ate and it was gooooood!!
so that was my Berlin expeirence!! really great city with lots of History and tomorrow morning we arrive in Paris and i am soooooo excited!!!!
p.s. its still raining but at least today we got a little sun...it was still coool though but not FREEZING!! i can't wait for Madrid!!! HOT WEATHER!!!!! and Lisbon and Lagos..BEACHES!!!!!!!! YESSSSS!!!!

Funny I never give history much thought when thinking of Berlin. That is way interesting.
