Hola Amigos! I wanted to write one more entry before I came home to the good old U.S. I am sad to leave, but looking forward to the comforts that can only be found at home.

I ended up having my last day at the Wawa Wasi yesterday, because it is closed today. Once a year all the wawa wasi moms have a fun day without kids, which is much needed! So I had to say goodbye to Julia and all the kids yesterday. It was a very sweet send-off! They showered me with hugs and kisses as if they understood that they wouldn´t see me again. I was strong. I didn´t cry, but I might as I am writing this. I took lot´s of photos so I can introduce you all to them.

So today I though I would experience another volunteer position and went to one of the soup kitchens. As I mentioned before, these are run by women who volunteer. They cook two meals a day and feed hundreds of children and elderly people every week. The women there were very sweet, but didn´t mess around. They have this down to a fine art! It was like being in your grandmothers kitchen and feeling like you´re in the way. I cut potatoes, grated onions and rolled fish in flour. I also helped serve the people as they came in. They were all so polite and thankful. The woman that ran the kitchen laughed and poked me and told me I was too skinny. If I lived here very long, that would certainly not be the case. It was a fun time and a good change from playing with children everyday.

Last night, we actually went out to experience a little of the night life. We went out to eat at a place called Nino´s. All of the volunteers went and we treated the CCS house staff to dinner. There were about 35 of us total. The food was great, the best chicken I have ever had! After that, we went out to a discoteca to dance. They even managed to get me out on the floor for a couple of songs. I felt like I was at home, with everyone saying, "oh look, Stacy´s actually dancing!" It was great to have some fun-time with everyone, especially since many of us are leaving this weekend.

So for the rest of my afternoon, I plan on relaxing, packing and soaking up every bit until I fly out tomorrow. I will get to spend the day in Lima. Me and some other volunteers are going to go shopping and exploring. My plane back to the states leaves at midnight. I can´t wait to see everyone at home!

This has truely been an unforgetable experience. I have met so many strong, compassionate and determined people. These are the people I came here to help, but now realize how much they have helped me. It´s a cycle that makes life so much more enjoyable and meaningful! Thank you all so much for supporting me and making this journey possible!

Prayers for a safe trip home
Thank you so much for making it possible for us to share some of the experience with you. I'm sure it would be so good for many of us to actually do something similar. We love you and will be looking forward to getting together to hear all your stories when you have had a chance to unwind.
