I just ate the most amazing churro of my life. If you ever go to peru and find yourself in Ayacucho buy a churro from the cart men for 50 centimos and I swear it will change your life.

Life is still slow with the strike. I'm also sick, along with half the house so thats not good. I guess the altitude finally caught up with me, either that or the hike at 11,000 ft was a bad idea. Either way I'm resting a lot so I will be able to go on the llama trek this weekend.

Since everything will be closed tomorrow and wednesday and since we aren't allowed outside without a guide I don't think there will be any internet for a while. Apparently the strike in the next two days is national and more about fair trade than anything else, so its separate from the teacher/doctor strike. Because of this we aren't allowed out, some peruvian parties aren't too happy with the US at the moment but our program still has good relations with everyone and there is nothing for us to worry about.

We are having a 4th of july party at our directors house on wednesday so I will be celebrating with you in spirit. We are barbequing and shooting off fireworks. Well, we are barbequing the closest thing to a hamburger we could find and the firworks come attached to a bull but hey, whatever works.

Hope you all are doing well keep the emails coming, they are fun to read. Sorry if my reply is slow but I swear I will get to it.

Get Well
Em, Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Get some rest and drink plenty of water. We will miss you over the 4th. Looks like Pam and I will be at the Cabin Tues night to Thurs noon. Lisa wants to stay in the Twin Cities. Your pictures are great. Looks like an interesting and exciting place. Keep a low profile though, with the strikes and stuff. Miss you. Love Dad
