An eventful couple of weeks.
Christine spent the week in Devon with her year doing activities like Zip wire, trapeze, quad biking, challenge courses and fencing, not to mention concert nights and a disco. More info:

Lauren's week was not without excitement either: she shook hands with he Prime Minister of England!Well, on his last day in office anyway, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. . Tony Blair and Arnold Schwarzenegger visited the girls school so Tony could show Arnie an example of a "green School" in London.

Type in "pupil" under the big blue video screen where it says "Search in news" and three stories will come up. Click on "Play"(once only!) for "Pupils meet Tony and Arnie" and then wait for it to come up in the video screen.

We also went to see a play called "The complete works of William Shakespeare", (abridged) which is an American comedy that introduces Shakespeare to novices and summarises plays for all of us. They spent a lot of time on Hamlet which was hilarious. Had coffee/ chai latte at the usual place beforehand : Cafe Nostro. (although the girls prefer Costa Coffee) Lauren laughed a lot throughout the whole play which is a good indication how clever these performers were with audience members who are fairly ignorant on Shakespeare. Actually it was good for Herve too as in his school he studied Voltaire, Hugo and Cornelle but not the majesty of Shakespeare (even though I personally think Charles Dickens was the greatest British writer of all time.) Came out and took photos of Piccadilly at 11 pm. Still many people about. This city never sleeps.

Visited the Science museum to see the exhibit on Plastics (interesting) and watch an IMAX film on Dinasaurs3D (brilliant) and of-course Lauren spent another hour in the Energy permanent exhibit which is her favourite and I'm certain she could come here every week and still be happy.

Weekend was wet (4th week running) but we still managed to get out and about and visit Trafalgar Square,Leicester Square, have coffee in the St James Park cafe (a great place to come or a rest in the middle of a day sightseeing) , walk to Buckingham Palace stopping at the Imperial War museum and also lying in Green Park for a while . Many people hire those deck chairs in the parks (3 pounds for an hour or two) but many lie on the grass also, as we prefer.

Music is the focus here lately what with all the festivals and concerts going on. Glastonbury, Hyde Park Calling, Princess Diana's memorial concert to name a few. Love Lily Allen (type in "LILY ALLEN LDN exclusive video" on You tube or go to her website to listen. Great stuff. http://www.lilyallenmusic.com/

The tourists have well and truly arrived in London and so now, if you visit the touristy areas like around Westminster or the Palace, and unless you go to The City, you hear mostly other languages and accents. I hear a lot of American, Canadian, Australian and many Japanese too. The Europeans are being swamped now so I notice ithen less and the poor English hardly get a word in. There is much griping here (in the newspapers etc) about how annoying the tourists are because they don;t follow the rules of public transport etiquette mostly, but I think they bring a vitality and good cheer compared to the rest of the year. People are happier and actually laugh on the

I have absolutely no idea how this guy pulled this off. Very impressive. He responded to the audience, when people came nearby. ?!

The Tour de France is next weekend. We have the school fair (I'm face painting) and lunch at some friends place (and Christine has a sleepover party) but we will be sure to at least glimpse these amazing athletes in Hyde Park while they are warming up.
