26th June

Arrived in Denmark safely on the overnight train from Berlin. lets just say that i am not looking forward to further trips on this service. found our way to the station where Soren said he would meet us. dropped our gear at his place and then he took us on a walking tour of Copenhagen. i have heard rumours that this city isnt one most tourists would visit. i can honestly say i can't see why they would´'t. it is a very pretty city with some amazing architecture and activities.

Today it rained. and rained. and rained. not the most ideal day for sight seeing so we decided to head to the national museum. this museum has an interesting mix of peices collected by different Danish kings etc throughout the years. unfortunately the Early Danish civilisation and prehistory exhibits were closed for renovation (the areas i was really interested in) but the rest of the museum was quite interesting. from here we headed to Soren's mums place (Inge Lise) and just watched TV before dinner.

Dinner was excellent because i got to catch up with Sorens brother Peter as well as Ebba who came in to town to see us !!!

Inge Lise cooked a fantastic traditional Danish dinner of Fried pork cutlets boiled potatoes with a creamy parsley sauce combined with. needless to say i went back for seconds.

Quite a cruisy day today. i headed into town to sort out a train ticket and we then met Soren and headed for Carlsberg. this brewery museum is about a million times better (in my opinion) than the guiness factory. most of the machiens still move and you can see exactly how they work. it is also about a tenth of the size of guiness which in my opinion provided a much more realistic atmosphere as to how the traditional Carlsberg was brewed. this tour also cost much Less (25 Kn for students) and you received two beers at the end of it!!!

Chilled out tonight. cooked a fantastic chicken tikka masala at Soren's and watched Back to the future III

awesome day today. Brad decided to just chill so Soren and i finished off the last part of the Copenhagen walking tour which included the little mermaid and some of the harbour followed by the royal palace. did a bit of shopping and then headed back to get ready for tonight's end of exams celebration.

the celebration was very interesting indeed. heaps of traditional Danish songs about wine and women etc combined with dormitory rivalry made for an interesting night. the night was complimented by some very interesting food. a Summer salad for entree, Peking Duck with a fried rice type dish in a lotus leaf and finished with a lemony crumble type dessert.

Would not be hard to beat the Guiness Storehouse.. Oh and the Czechs know how to party too ;) have fun with that, just dont do shots of Absinthe like Amanda made me do last night.. They heat it up!! The shots are massive and it burns your throat for like half an hour after!! very cheap tho!!

Hi new cousin
Callum - you are having a great journey of a lifetime - just sorry that the weather has been so aweful for you. Swiss mountains need clear skies to show off their beauty. Am fascinated at the market research you are doing on the opening hours of european supermarkets and mystery shopping experiences of Subway. Hope to be able to least buy you lunch before you flee the UK shores next month.
