So here we are about 1400kms up the east coast in Hervey Bay!

We've spent the last week meandering up the coast from sydney, stopping at Coffs Harbour, Byron Bay, Brisbane, Noosa and now Hervey Bay!

Our first day was spent on the road and it was a dark and wet Coffs Harbour that we arrived to! We have stayed at YHA's all the way up the coast and they have all been great! the one in Coffs was fantastic, cheap, friendly and really well situated! whilst in coffs we went for a walk out onto a headland there called muttonbird island, its here that the muttonbirds nest after flying down from japan! sadly we missed them as they leave in May to fly north!!!!! however we saw pelicans, sea eagles and most impressively Humpback Whales from the shore!!! they were incredible you could see them breaching and swimming around! Also in coffs is the Big banana, whilst driving around oz there is an abundunce of very random and very large objects scattered on top of petrol stations and restaurants, Mostly they are foodstuffs such as bananas and pineapples but today we passed the big Ned Kelly... it was a bit strange to say the least!!!

After Coffs we headed up to Byron Bay, the alternative capital of Australia! Imagine Camden Market with hippies instead of Goths and Emos! a very chilled, relaxed vibe for sure! we spent two nights in Byron and did little other than sit on a beach! granted we were wearing jumpers as it was a wee bit chilly!

After Byron we drove up the Gold Coast to Brisbane where we met up with a friend of Emma and Katies from Royal Holloway, it was a really nice city, there wasnt anything special, it just had a really nice vibe! somewhere i'd definately like to visit properly! we then headed up the coast some more to Noosa, where we stayed for 3 nights! Again, little else than beaching it and going for walks was doen as its such a lovely little town, with a great headland which is national park! We also managed to see a wild Koala which was pretty cool!!! We also went to the Eumundi markets, a vast market which goes on and on and on! there are hundreds of stalls and all of them seem to sell something different!!! It was really cool and I was shocked as Katie didnt buy a thing! A first im sure!!! So we are now in Hervey Bay and its really nice here, its starting to get warmer as we creep closer to the tropics so the shorts are on and the shades have been dug out!

We are all very proud of our car, Dennis, he is doing really well, and appart from a few weird noises from time to time he is a great car!!! hopefully we will be able to get him in some pics later...

Our next week involves us going from here in Hervey Bay up to the Whitsundays, for sailing and Seakayaking, then onwards to Cairns! its going to be fun!!! when i am able to upload some more photos i shall!!!

I hope all is Well where ever you are!!!
