I've had a few frustrating days.

I'm on an anticlimax from Pro-Dive and the foul cold wet weather isn't helping!

What's bothering me the most is that my pre-booked, pre-paid schedule gives me no flexibilty so although 4 of my pro-dive friends are travelling down same way in a camper van, I can't join them. I've already paid for my bus pass and accommodation.

My day in Mission Beach was miserable - landsickness dizziness and tiredness, combined with rain, but most of all the others were supposed to catch up with me when they arrived but they couldn't find me so I had a bit of a lonely night!

The next day we all travelled to Townsville - me on bus, them in camper. I was happy to find alex, another pro-dive friends, on the same bus. She was in Townsville for a night on her way to Darwin.

Whereas all the others were staying in Townsville I had 2 nights accommodation booked and paid for on Magnetic Island (the beautiful island that is accessed from Townsville). However, I knew that I wouldn't be happy unless I spent the evening with the others so I ended up sacrificing my first night there to stay in Townsville. Definitely the right decision.

Today however, the others left for Air because they booked to dive the famous Yongala wreck tomorrow morning. I really wanted to go with them and dive too, however I had to come to magnetic island since it was paid for and travel to Airlie beach to start whitsundays sailing on Sat. So I bid them goodbye, which was a bit disappointing.

More annoying was that I screwed up the ferry and bus times so that rather than having the best part of the day to explore the many walking tracks on magnetic island, including one where wild koalas can be seen, I didn't arrive at the hostel until 4pm so only had about 1 1/2 to walk! A lot of money for a little time!

The hostel's nice but it's a bit of a party place, the bar music (where I am now) is so loud that the room sounds like I'm at a party. Kinda puts a dampner on my plan and need for an early night (my glands are swelling and a bit swollen - a usual sign that I'm getting a bit run down!)

I changed my schedule today - whereas I was supposed to jump on an overnight bus after whitsundays and start Fraser island right after I have postponed the noosa 3 day kayak until after brisbane in order to put a few days between whit and fraser. The fact that it took 3 days for my head to stop spinning badly after the pro dive trip (landsickness) made me realise that I needed time before fraser! Especially if I have to drive!

So...this has been a bit of a moan really, but an honest one, it's definitely been a low few days! I'm gonna try and sleep now! I'm looking forward to Whitsundays, the weather will prob be bad but it's a new group and a new phase....

Sounds Awful!
Lauren, Sorry to read that you are having a disappointing time of it but here is a bit of advice that might help: 1) It's better than working; and, 2) Learn from it - stop over-stretching yourself and cut yourself some slack. Take care. Love, Dad
