We finally have sunshine! Over the last two days it has brightened up here a lot, and it definitely needed too. I've never seen so much rain, and that's saying something coming from England. It hasn't been quite as cold as New York or San Francisco were (except at night) but the rain has made it feel that way. But now we have relief, so I'll stop dwelling on the bad stuff!

On Tuesday me and Aaron got all-day transport passes and spent the day going on all the ferries. The weather was still crazy then, but that made it more fun in a boat (when I was indoors at least!). First we fot a ferry over the Manly Beach. The boat passes over the Sydney Heads (think that's what it was called) where the water meets the actual ocean. This was really fun on the way there - but less so on the way back on a sea cat straight after eating fish and chips! Manly was really nice, and we did a walk along the coast. There were loads of surfers out, and though it was freezing the water was surprisingly warmer than the air. It's really impressive

watching the really good surfers, their balance is amazing.

We then got a ferry to Mosmon (Aaron became obsessed with the name) and Neutral bay and then back to Darling Harbour. It was good being out there on the water after watching it for so long.

Yesterday we got a bus to Bondi Beach, and it is remarkable to see. The beach itself isn't the big, it sort of curves round and has a park around it - it's the waves that are spectacular. We walked along the beach (Aaron paddled, I just ran whenever the water came near me) and then walked back and went to the 'Bondi Icebergs' club. We mainly went because we had free drinks vouchers, but it's a nice club and has a massive swimming pool outside which is actually filled by the sea. There were some crazy waves crashing against it when we were there.

We then went back to the hostel, and then out again to the 'Sidebar' to meet Helen and Joe (Aaron's friend from home). It was an enjoyable night, I met some new people and had a good time with people from home.

Today we've mainly

been sorting stuff out for leaving Sydney tomorrow. We went to the New South Wales Art Gallery, which was interesting (and it was free, which is always helpful!). There was good traditional and more modern artworks in there, and I'm glad we decided to go. Tonight I think we're going to look at the bridge and opera house at sunset, so be prepared for more boring landmark pictures!

We are on Gerg's laptop catching up with your Australia news. Kate usually prints them off for Nana and I to read so it's the first time I've logged on to your blog myself. Some of the photos are amazing what a wonderful experience for you both! Kate's boyfriend has just gone to Thailand for two weeks to meet up with his brother, so don't forget to say hi if you bump into him!!! He has e-mailed Kate some photos and it looks amazing - the sea is crystal clear and the weather is really hot. (Kate has just said that you may already be there, so sorry if I'm telling you what you already know!). Nana and I have just booked a four-day trip to London in August. I am going to try to see the Ghurkin building so hope Aaron is not too jealous. Not sure how that sight would compare to the sights you have seen! Have really enjoyed keeping up with details of your RTW trip and look forward to your next entry. Can't wait to see you when you get back - which won't be that long now! Take care, love to you both AJ and Kate xxxx
