The Monk Temple.
Affectionatley named, The Temple of Doom! (not really) Well we were both so relieved when we arrived at the airport knowing that we didn't have to spend any longer on this rubbish Island, hoping Thailand would be so much better.........We were wrong..again
We flew with Air India, it was the mostest smelliest flight I have ever been on. As well as the Smelly Indian men they also served up Indian food which stank out the plane. Luckily it was only a 2hr 20 min flight. It was that bad even Andi couldn't sleep!!
I think I held my breath the whole way praying we would land safely.
When we got off the flight and had got through customs we were very cautious of being mugged so we were like private investigators hiding all our monies. We worked out how the taxi's worked and then we were on our way to the :Guest House
I thought we had entered the Grand Prix/whackie races/demolition derby, I'm positive they do not have MOT's here!!! The traffic was horrendous but the taxi driver amazingly got us there in one piece and it was cheap (which pleased Andi!).
We didn't get to the guest house till 8 o'clock but we decided we would go and explore and of course...feed the man!!!
More smelly streets, rubbish everywhere, not surprising everything is so cheap its a pooh hole!!! Can you believe we couldn't find one Thai restaurant so we opted for Korean.
We were not impressed with Bangkok so far but had only booked in for 2 nights so were fairly flexible.
The Guest house had seemed ok at first sight until we decided to go to bed and realised we had visitors!!!!!!
TICKS!!!!
I didn't know what they were but Andi did but all I know is that they suck on warm places, I had images of these huge blood filled creatures hanging from our giblets!!!! They were disgusting and we found more under the bed.
Then suddenly Super Andi came to the rescue and saved the night! He got us moved to a different room. But you can imagine how we were feeling at this point....far from an oasis!
Andi will explain our next adventure............
Lesley
Right.. So...
The plane smelt like the wrong end of a curry fuelled drinking binge, the guest house had a resident tick population, I suppose it was only time before something else went "just as planned'...
Just to elaborate somewhat on the guest house, you have to take your toilet roll from a main dispenser in the hallway, because apparently there were too many toilet rolls going missing!!
Great!
So we left Sing Sing for the day and headed down to a place called Patpong to a giant market, but contrary to everything we had been told, it was actually a night market and didn't open until 7 that evening, so we decided to take a trip along the river which runs up the Western side of Greater Bangkok..
The river is terrible, whilst we didn't see anyone actually using the river as a toilet, I'm quite sure raw sewage finds it's way there..
A cheap trip up the river saw us reach a giant Buddhist Temple, which we soon found out Lesley couldn't go into because she was wearing a strapy top (Buddhist Monks are very fashion conscious!).
So I went in, ran around the temple for a while like a child then left to meet my exiled girlfriend..
Our next plan was to go to the Palace, but apparently that closes just before we get there, so that was off the agenda..
Then, as if by magic, as we are eating our fresh fruit, a local man, a teacher appears from nowhere and we get talking, after a while he offers to purchase Lesley after some bartering, Lesley says she isn't interested (I had a great price as well) so he offers us some tourist advice instead..
From that advice we headed down to possibly the most friendly and useful place that we've come across so far, the Thailand Advice Bureau or T.A.T for short (???)
Anyway, we talked to them about the fact both of us were delighted that we were acting as pollution filters but it wasn't for us and we wanted a Tropical Paradise instead.. He suggested Bognor Regis or Ko Samui Island & Ko Panang Island, I went for Bognor but I was out voted by Lesley and her Ladyboy...
So we are now looking forward to Tropical Paradise.. So you probably won't hear from us again now! ha only joking, but maybe it'll be good stuff!
Seriously though, we're having a great time out here most of the bad stuff we take on the chin and laugh about it later and we're now seriously looking forward to some beach at last!
P.S. We will actually post some pics soon! Please post some messages back to us about the blog, they're great to read!

round the world wonderers
hi,Andi and Lesley , great to hear from you both, sorry that the accomadation has not been to good, perhaps you should try 5 star and then there would be less ticks, and even if there was at least they would be up market ticks. The hotel we have stayed in for the weekend was up market (Val and Pete's ) we had steak mushrooms and chips followed by strawberrys, rasberry and cream, and sunday we had Roast beef, and cherry pie and custard. Yum,Yum. I see Dad told you off my bike trip, but he forgot to say ,they gave me the biggest bike in the shed, my feet,or should I say toe just touched the ground, I had walked up the 'big' hill and then went to get back on and lost my balance and in the bushes I went, you would have both laughed if you had seen me laying in the nettles, but the brave soldier got up and 'climbed' bravely back on and carried on her journey, A Mum to be proud off!!!. We can't wait to see some pictures ,do take care of each other, Enjoy,Enjoy,Enjoy. love to you both Mum and Dad xxxxxx
