Day 3 -Departed 6AM CST

Kickapoo is a very popular name through Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

Corn is also very popular.

Corny jokes in Illinois

Benj’s truck still likes to run in 2nd. Mike and Mandie have whiplash.

After listening to the same XM station (we really like it), and hearing the same commercials over and over again, you tend to hear them a little differently…
Betty White will forever be known as the crazy old lady from Lake Placid, not the Pet Meds Plus spokesperson.
There's this guy who makes a crap load of money every night before he goes to bed. By our calculations, he's gone to bed 35 times in the past 3 days.

Dubuque is a really nice town. It reminded us of Wheeling…except it’s all bunched together and actually looks prosperous.

Cheesy jokes in Wisconsin.

“It’s frickin’ Wisconsin…WHERE’S THE CHEESE?!?!?!” Mandie said.

You would think that there would be cheese in Wisconsin. There were always signs, but we couldn’t find the stores…and there were no little stands on the side of the road either.

Mike shot four cases of a new type of

People thought we were nuts taking a picture in a parking lot!
beer in Dickeyville, but he could only carry two cases back to the camper. At least they were on sale.

LaCrosse, Wisconsin still hasn’t fixed the spelling of their name.

There was no welcome to Minnesota sign. 

As we were crossing Minnesota, this truck driver started honking and pulled up next to us on the highway. As he waved, we were waiting to see him say “You’re dragging something”….perhaps a deer head (Amy and Jon reference there…) Instead, he waved and said “I’m from West Virginia too!” Pretty cool.

Minnesota’s roads are worse than Pennsylvania’s.

Beulah and Charlie have a really nice campground. Bathrooms are really stuffy and smell like toilet cleaner and lavender soap, but they gave me a pen, so that makes it all okay.

St. Olaf, exit 69.

Gas is getting cheaper. $2.76 in Minneapolis.

Jessica and Steve are doing well. We met them at the local mall. And somehow, the girls can always find the Victoria’s Secret sale.

We also found the local Cabelas on the way back to the campsite. We only had 5 minutes before they closed, but we got to look around a little. It’s like Wheeling’s…only backwards.

Bugs are really big in Minnesota. Mike enjoyed the bug zapper.

Still have that firewood of Mike’s…still can’t split it.

Summary:
Miles traveled: 1054.9
Gas mileage: 13.5 MPG
States: 8 (PA, WV, OH, IN, IL, IA, WI, MN)
