Mike's New Look
Mike rocked it Beijing style out of the airport while Kevin looked waaay to classy in slick Italian dress shoes. Down one, about 90 more to go! Ironically enough, we most likely had our best meal for the next 4 months on the flight over. Did I mention we were flying Executive Class? Thanks to Peter's (Em's Dad) pull in Air Canada and Mike's (Kev's Dad) generous dress shoe donation, we hopped on board with the other rich English blokes. All I could think of was 'Which one of these things does not belong'. Kevin needed to wear Mike's dress shoes in order to get on board. Mike, on the other hand, wore some fantastic Beijing-made slippers courtesy of Peter. Thanks dad!
After some initial problems navigating London's tube-system and a fire alarm scare, we found our way to Waterloo Station where we would spend the night... assuming there was a room to be had. What is it they say about assumptions again? We stumbled upon London's finest hotel, the "Hampton Court Palace Hotel". We ventured out to the Elephant and Castle tube station and dined like a true Brit - disgusting cod and chips. The 'restaurant' we ate at was quite vile. After dinner it was off to Hampton's local pub for a pint. We crashed early and
woke up every so often, but managed to sleep quite well. Today Peter leaves us to our own devices (for better or worse) and so we thank him for helping us find our feet. We're heading to Paris via the Chunnel and have found places to stay for the next three nights. We'll end with perhaps London's most memorable saying.... "Please Mind The Gap".
