I've been going pretty much non-stop for the last five or six days. I can't sleep well and I've been doing so much that I haven't stopped to write down a thing. Well, and while that's not entirely true, I would really prefer to reorganize my thoughts before jotting them down in this little forum.
Bacco, God of Wine, was worshipped this weekend at the Medeval Festival in Monteveglio and I had an incredible experience. I was immersed in rich culture and thrown in with all the young people in the town- who after hours and hours of drinking seemed to forget that I was the American girl, and its been a blast.
There is a girl Ilaria that I've made good friends with. She is an artist and we have lots of passions in common. I am really looking forward to coming back to Bologna in July so that we can hang out some more...last night we had midnight pastries typical of Bologna!!
But for now, today is my last day working in Monteveglio. I finished the vineyards!!!! Yay, and this afternoon we're doing more honey scraping, hmmm. Then I have to pack my bag, return a book to the library in Monteveglio, have a last dinner with the family, hopefully sleep and leave for Villanova D'Asti tomorrow. Wow.
I've been swimming in thoughts, wine, sleep deprivation, festivals, olives, liquirice, pastries, sun, and a million other things...please forgive me for my disjointed nature. This is exactly what I thought travelling would be like. Hopefully I'll be able to open up more quickly to the other places and not wait till the last week like I did here. Moderation, mmhmm.
