Birthday in Hanoi

Hi everyone! Thanks for the many birthday greetings! We've spent the last two nights living in the lap of luxury in Hanoi at the Sofitel Metropole, the nicest hotel in the city and a birthday surprise from Steve. We had a 1pm checkout and I made him wait in our room until 12:59 it was so nice. It's an old hotel (from 1901) and it's where Charlie Chaplin had his honeymoon (and reportedly full of ghosts, although I didn't see any!). We've taken the overnight train to Sapa and out of the terrible heat of Hanoi for a couple of nights trecking in the mountains. Will add photos soon!!!
P.S. The lie in the last blog entry was Air Conditioning (thank goodness!).....all the other points were true :-)

Hi Kids, Happy Belated birthday Sarah. It sounds like you had a very special celebration,k one to truly remember:) we will have to celebrate again once you are on US soil. I have approxiamtely 80 people coming to the house any minute for a luncheon so must go. Keep sending the photographs. We so enjoy them. Love to you both.
