umm Steak!!
I love not having to cook again!! Back to bliss! Hello from my last continent! In my last blog I said crossing the international date line was cool, well it's not! That and some serious partying temporarily turned me into an incomniac! I'm cured now so you can breathe sigh of relief!
On my flight from New Zealand I joined four other backpackers and we explored Santiago and Buenos Aires together.
We arrived in Santiago complety exhausted, so we did what travellers do best and took a power nap. Then we were ready to venture round the city. The area we stayed in had no expatreates and very few people spoke English, but as a whole Santiago is suprisingly cosmopolitan.
On our wanderings we stumbeled across some great rustic bars. They're just how you'd imagine them; with sandy yellow walls, shutters on the windows, and crammed with tables.
After sharing a few beers we decieded to take the Lonley Planet's adivce and try a local street food speciality called a Completo. I wish I hadn't. It's bassically a really bad hotdog with avocado, tomato, onion and mayonase on. I was the only person to finish it, but only after I removed the suspicious looking mayonase!

I wouldn't have done this had I know that bottle was worth $600!!
some brief sitseeing, a wine tasting trip and some bad food I jumped on a plane to Buenos Aires.

the lovely completo
hey, great journal. too bad the completo didn't sit well with you. it's one of my favorite chilean foods. i can't eat hotdogs any more without avocado. happy trails!
