These are the metal rings we spoke of in the journal. I cannot imagine trying to descend this portion of the trail as the north bounders have to.

My name is Matthew Mooney. I am the proud son of two Appalachian Trail walkers. Pat and Debbie Mooney embarked on this great journey in April 2007. An ankle injury pulled them off early, but they are still plugging away when they have time. Picking up the

We have gotten to the point that we do not stay in the shelters that much. People bring food, food crumbs draw mice, and mice draw snakes. On top of that, it is much quieter too.
