hey everyone, just in Melbourne filling in some time while Nat is recovering upstairs (few too many ciders last night i think!!) I've just been to the market and luckily left my money in the room so i didnt spend, but i really could have...i had to leave Nat half way through the stalls as she was feeling a little queasy...she soon retreated to her bed...so ive been sat on a park bench (in an actual park) reading my book..which was lovely and now i thought I'd fill you in about Melbourne 😊.
Had a quiet first few days and then the weekends picked up a bit...its a really nice city, can see why everyone stays here once they come, all tree lined streets and trams and things, all nice .
we did a day trip along the great ocean road...we saw Bells beach, gorgeous coastline, the twelve apostles, london bridge...loads of things...the highlights for me though was definalty seeign the lighthouse from ''round the twist'' remember that tv show where they lived in a lighthouse...well ive seen it and we sang the theme tune as we walked around it of course!! We got to see our first wild koalas too..they are so cute and considering they dont wake up very often the ones we saw were actually eating and moving ..we had a really good day.
Forgot to mention we got our haircut too...i was embarrassed in the hairdressers chair!! 6 months worth of spilt ends and i hadnt used conditioner since it ran out in Perth!!! so i splashed out on some conditioner for my new shorter hair and i feel much happier ...
anyway where was i...oh yeh so weve been round Melbourne...saw a cool restaurant that is a tram that goes round the city...not quite sure how that works but it looked good ...we met up with Al and Jen from the Perth to Broome trip..so we experienced a Max Brenas hot chocolate..yummy!!
we've done the botanical gardens, the shops, going to the museum tomorrow..ermm quite a bit really...and on Saturday we saw our first ever Aussie rules football match!! (my first proper football match of any kind!!) we were just inquiring abut the tickets when we went past the stadium and then thought well why not...so there we were in the Telstra dome watching AFL (aussie football league) it was Adelaide and Carlton and we decided we'd support Adelade (as they had a the most fans sat around us)...Nat was upset as she had planned a sporty outfit to wear..but with us just going at the spur of the moment she didnt get chance to change...so we did look like two inexperienced english girls that had not been to a footie match before (which was true!!) but luckily there was a small child behind us getting told what was happening by his dad so i just ear wigged on that and the match was great, we even were tutting and clapping at the right times by the end of it!! Adelaide won too which made it better since they were our team for the day .
So weve got neighbours night tomorrow..the museum and not sure what else...what ever takes our fancy i guess .
so overall, Melbourne is lovely and St Kildas a nice part of town...right by the beach which im sure is gorgeous to lie on in the sun...at the moment its freezing still!! very windy but clear blue skies .
If i think of anymore to add i'll stick it on the bottom ...photos coming soom...forgot to bring my usb lead down ...byee for now x x
