the tent
this is it folks, our humble abode for the next 3 days! Hey everyone. we made it safe and sound. Although we only planned to meet somewhere in the Rome airport, we did meet up without any problems. We did some small tours yesterday. We visited the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. We found both to be slightly anticlimatic. But the gelato was great. 😊 (gelato is like ice cream, but better)
Laura is going to write about our 'lodging' for the next few nights:
. . . so camping . . . not much of a camper in the states, so camping in Rome was taking one for the team and my wallet. First impression: this is going to be horrible!! Our tent, which was literally a tent with two cots and about enough space for one person to stand between them, was scorching hot and obviously small compared to the hotels I'd been in the last week. However, it turned out to not be so bad, it cooled off a lot during the night, and even though we have to trek to the bath house every time we need to use the toilet or shower, I kinda (key word, kinda) like it--except for my paranoia of
Italian Tourism
This is why the Spanish Steps were a little anit-climatic, everyone was there!! It was so crazy! ants getting in my bed!!
Well, while you all are slaving away in the "real" world today, we're going to trapse around Rome, see the Colosseum, Roman Forum, a crypt, and go on a walking tour. Sounds fabulous, wouldn't you agree!? 😊
