Sculture in the City!Sculture in the City!Sculture in the City!

Ahh this city keeps the tourist amused!
We made it across the channel to the North Island finally, and without Davey puking, which was nice for him!
Wellington is a pretty big bustling city, compared to what we've been used to in the last couple of months.

Dave: "It's weird being from London i'm used to rushing around and doing things at top speed, but last night in the supermarket, i felt so slow compared to everything going on around me, i think some of that Australian laid backness might have worn off on me."

We spent 4 days here and basically milled around the city did a few walks and of course had our daily dose of Starbucks!

The one day we walked around the city then spent a few hours is the Museum of New Zealand 'Te Papa'. Lots of Moari things to see and some science bits on how New Zealand became to be through the years of Volcano eruptions and Earthquakes.

Another day was spent doing some walks through Parks, first into Victoria Park Dave in search of LOTR locations, they did lots of filming in the park over looking the city.
the first we arrived at was at the

Walking around park looking for Lord of the Rings sights!end of the street that we were staying in a rohan incampment, the next bit was where frodo stouts to get off the road in the first film, then were the hobbits hide under the tree stump once they jump off the road. we managed to find a coulple of places that looked familiar from the films but as most of the sets were added in with fake trees and CGI it's impossible to be certain if what you think your looking at is infact a filming location. the park itself is beautiful though and worth the walk around anyway.
Then accross to another side of the city and up the cable car to see the botanical gardens.
The gardens and views were nice to see but the "must do cable car ride" was poo to say the least.

Wellington overall was nice and with a bit more time and money it would of been nice to sample its many cosmopolitan cafe, restuarants and bars, but the daily starbucks treat had to do for us tho!
