The Solway Lass
All you ever need to know about this ship:
http://www.australiantallships.com/solwaylass.php?wp=27 Ok, so Dan Dan the Aussie man and I made it to Cairns alive and well after our trip through t'outback! It's a touch more remote than Taplow.
Cairns
Due to it being the middle of the wet season it was pretty quiet although it was still very hot and humid...I felt like Wozza after doing 2 minutes running 😉
Stayed here for a couple of days where we just chilled at the local lagoon - swimming in the sea is not recommended due to the crocs and it was also jellyfish season but either way I was happy to stay away.
Made our way down to Magnetic Island to dive the famous Yongala wreck only to find that Dan didn't have enough logged dives and that the trips didn't fit into our plans timewise. Again, it was really quiet here and we left after a couple of days. I did see my first Koala bear though which smelt like Wozza after a 2 minute jog...
Oh yeah, we went to a Cane toad racing night and won $80 which is about 45p in real money...kept us in beer all night tho 😊
Travelled further south to
Flipflops for goalposts
Playing beach footy against ze Germans on a beach in the Whitsundays...won 1-0 too :) Airlie beach to take a trip on an old skool pirate ship for 3 days around the Whitsunday islands. Whilst here I:
Entered into a 3 day ropeswinging competition with everyone else on board - I now have biceps like Crouchie but still can't dance like a robot
Visited numerous picturesque beaches and generally had my breath taken away
Played beach footy against another boat and won
Went snorkelling and saw a reef shark and the biggest tropical fish I've ever seen in my life known as a Mauri Wrasse - it's about 5ft long and you can feed it by hand...felt a bit surreal swimming with it and the thousands of smaller fish that constantly followed it around. This one is apparently 50 odd years old and only became 'male' after the previous 'male' died.
Steered the ship and didn't crash
Played drinking games with rum
Got very very wet in the rain
Chilled out
Laughed at all the other boats that didn't have a ropeswing
Had the biggest bar bill due to the G&Ts
Avoided the Tiger sharks
After the boat party we continued south and made our way to Hervey Bay to take a Toyota Hi-lux
What do you do with a drunken sailor?
3 days on a pirate ship + rum + ropeswing on the main sail = face/belly/back/neck flops but it was soooooooooo much fun 4x4, which carried 11 passengers along with our tents and supplies for 3 days, onto the biggest sand island in the world known as Fraser Island where we:
Drove like rally car drivers around the island, including in some ridiculous tracks of deep sand which you'd struggle to walk through, although the 4x4 was a touch top heavy and one person nearly rolled it going around a corner. Everything was ok apart from the top of my head which slammed into the roof...ouchie.
Listened to rock 'n' roll with the volume on full - cwazy kids eh!?
Got attacked by these massive blinking bugs 24/7 that just wouldn't die no matter how hard you hit them
Saw some dingos
Didn't see any Tiger sharks - the island is a breeding ground for them so we were told not to swim in the sea yet again 😞
Got very hot
Saw some random fresh water turtles
Tried to avoid a load of idiot Chav Brits
I then decided to pay a visit to old Bobby Kilbride in Brisbane where we:
Went on a stag do to Surfer's paradise - it's a bit like a cross between Magaluf, Tenerife, Cyprus etc...
Discussed the good old days back in Sluff
Drank a few shandys
Visited Byron Bay
Chilled out
I then flew down to Sydney to try to get a job and show the locals how to do it...FINIT
For those of you that haven't seen these then there are some random vids to be found here but they're a bit cleaner than the ones on Wozza's hard drive so you can view them at work:

Big ups:
Wozza for putting up with all the abuse
The monkey
Smarty for checking my post
Wozza for his antics at the team do...quality effort I must say
Mum and Pops - thanks for the t-shirts
Dan Dan Sydney man for putting up with my music in the 4x4
It's not really the end as I'm sonehow still alive...I'll get the Sydney adventures up soon too, these include:
A 3 day wine 'tasting' trip
Visit to the MTV music awards
Playing footy
Drinking beer out of small glasses
3 day music festival in the sticks
Getting one of those job thingymajiggies 😞
Living 5 mins walk from Bondi beach 😊
Lots of love in a non-smarty kindof way
