Queenstown

Queenstown HI Everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well back home or wherever you are. Well Fall has arrived in Dunedin, which is a little bizarre seeing as it is May but it is actually gorgeous here in the fall. Well this post will be a bit shorter than my epically long last post. I haven’t done all that much travelling after “spring” break. It has been nice to spend a few weekends around Dunedin. Two weekends ago on Sunday, I went with Butler (my study abroad program) on the Taieri Train, this old fashion train to Middlemarch. It was a really cool train and we lucked out on having absolutely beautiful weather. We were picked up from the train station in Middlemarch and driven to Clyde where we had a barbeque and were fitted for our bikes and helmets for our 20km ride along the historic Rail Trial that cuts through central Otago. It is this old rail trial which was removed leaving a very flat and gravelled bike track. The ride was really nice and foliage was starting to turn. After our bike ride we headed to the largest gold mine in New Zealand and then back to Dunedin. It was a great trip.

This past weekend after spending Thursday night celebrating my friend Susannah’s 21st, I dropped 2 of my flatmates off to bike the rail trail on my way to Queenstown to stay with Tennille (my friend from camp who I stayed with in Auckland when I first arrived) in her uncles house in one of the most famous golf resorts in New Zealand. The house was amazing. We (Tennille, Tregan (Tennille’s husband), Cory (Tennille’s brother) and I) spent most of our time relaxing in the house and hot tub and eating so really great food. We went into Queenstown on Saturday and took a gondola ride up to this luge track, it was a little cloudy but the views were phenomenal. We spent the day walking around Queenstown, which was really nice. Sunday morning we took Tennille’s uncle’s 4-wheelers out for a drive in Arrowtown on the river where a big chunk of Lord of the Rings was filmed. It was a really nice day on Sunday, so the 4-hour drive back to Dunedin was actually really nice.

That is really all for now. I hope everyone is well. Miss you and love you!

Em

AH-MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING! So weird it's fall, but it looks beautiful. Seriously, do you do anything but go find the most gorgeous nature scenes ever? Pretty sweet life. Now that the snowstorms finally quit in the northeast, I'm just excited when I see a patch of green bigger than me bum, to plant myself on. I want to ask you how you prounounce 'Tegan' is it like "Megan" or like "Teee-gan". Did you eat all those yummie apples, i've heard New Zealand is like THE spot for apples. I'm glad you're seeing seasons change over there, must be cool. We'll have a scorching summer for you when you get back to Boston area I'm sure. I'm moving into an apt (at least for the summer, maybe more) in Beacon Hill, so you'll have to come play!! Miss you. MGardinderWood
