Arrived at Bangkok airport on Cobra Swamp on Friday afternoon- thought of turning back round then! Had a drawn out bus ride to our accommodation on Khao San Road due to the traffic. Would describe it as Glastonbury only much sweatier and no need for wellies but much better Pad Thai.

Spent three steaming days in Bangkok in all-the place is crazy and we would probably have stuggled to spend much longer there. Braved a few Tuk Tuk journeys including one high speed race against Jonny and Stu and ended up seeing quite a few suit and jewellery shops rather than the Grand Palace that we'd set out to see but then you don't have much choice in the hands of the drivers!

Managed to see the Grand Palace and reclining Buddha the next day- taking a boat along the Chaophraya river this time- taking no chances! The place is amazing but it was hard to take time to appreciate it all when its so hot and you've got to wear trousers. Paul and Jonny got felt up by a man on the street- think he might have given them a voodoo curse but nothing's gone wrong so far.

Had the best ride down Khao San Road from Mr Don or Mr Khao San as he likes to be called- a guy dressed in a hunter hat, checked trousers and Willy Wonka glasses, who takes tourists around the area at night on his pimped up trike. This thing had a TV on it that blared out Red Hot Chilli Peppers- everyone looked, pointed and took pictures- felt more famous that their King!

Even managed to squeeze in watching some football games, the Thais are more obsessed with the Premiership than the English- Charlotte thought she'd left all that behind! Had a few good nights/buckets with Jonny and Stu before they headed South to the islands and we went North to Chaing Mai, including a very strange evening in Pat Pong 😉

Hi Mum, its actually normally custom that women dont sit on their necks as they can pick up your scent and go crazy but think that must only be for male elephants and this one must have been a female. We also had a crazy rider who kept jumping off and making it roar like a dinosaur so I jumped on it to control it- well maybe not quite true...I was a bit scared to take my hands off the seat completely and then we decided that it would be too difficult to negotiate a change over between me and Paul! xx
