It is so nice to be in one place and not keep moving hostel to hostel! Having such a good time staying with andrew in Katherine.
Katherine is a small town, but has pretty much got everything you need. Anything extra you need, people tend to drive up to Darwin regularly and get stuff there. Life here is certainly more relaxed than back home....... we do stress too much!!
Feels like 'real' australia here - i hate that term, its so cheesy, but its away from all the tourism of the east coast, is very hot and has that outback look so think i am justified in making that statement!
Katherine Gorge (Nitmiluk) is a big attraction here. It comprises of 13 gorges, separated by rapids and carved out by the Katherine a river. We went for a short walk there yesterday and it is beautiful. Going back on Thursday possibly to maybe do a boat cruise through the gorges and walk on a bit further.
As Andrew is a paramedic and was working last night, he asked if i fancied coming along with him to observe. There are some social problems here with some aboriginals
and a lot of the work the ambulance service gets comes from these communities. We went out last night - it was very interesting to see.

Hello
Hey, glad you got to Australia alright and that Katherine perhaps isn't so 'kill myself' as expected. I'm back at work today...so depressing.....feeling sooo meloncholly (seriously though). Bet Helen is the same. Keep having fun and making the most of it. Say G'Day to Andrew for me.
