Preparing for wierd and wonderful dietary delight.

A lone mallard duck sat at the edge of the sidewalk in this Scarborough neighbourhood. The creek that once was, has been encroached upon and made almost non-existant by ugly new houses built about two years ago. These houses obscure the sunrise and have no architectural saving graces.
The duck was alone. No sign of a female. The only open body of water in the vicinity is a small artificial pond created by the ugly house developer. Perhaps a nest is to be found there. No fish live in the pond. Thankfully ducks do not eat fish; just green stuff like their distant relatives, the Canada Geese.
These creatures too are in an area that used to have water and now has nothing but rock, gravel and parking lot. Yet the faithful fowl return each year for their Ikea stopover. Actually its a Canadian Tire lot but these geese do not get this ludicrous connection.

And then it was on to the Elegantview Chinese Restaurant for Dim Sum; dumplings, tripe and chicken feet. I'm in training for the wierd and wonderful that I will encounter during my sojourn. Only seven days till I take of and the jitters are

beginning to develop.

Do not yet know my blood type, still have the malaria pills to get and am waiting for an $800 return from the medical insurance company for monies put out for needed medication. Have taken the first two Dukarel doses and hope to avert any brush with ecoli or diarrhea or anything else mean and nasty.

Of course I am not ready to go .... that worry will keep my blood pressure high enough to warrent the evil little pills I have been taking for almost two months now. Since I have read again and again how dangerous it is to go up into the Andes maybe I will have to thank my ever vigilant doctor for putting me on the little evils.

Put up my tent in five minutes today. Took another ten minutes to get the sleeping pad and bag into place. Repacked all my things ... downsized! and will repack once or twice more before next Monday the 30th of April. Am already booked for a tour of Prince William Sound ... six hours of glaciers and whales and .... whatever else the Sound has to offer.

Overlanding
I will be anxious to find out exactly where you are going. I looked at the map and unfortunately it doesn't give place names. Good luck. Have a wonderful time. I hope you see plenty of wildlife as that is what I look for. Will wait to hear more. We are thinking of you!
