Round the World After a brief stop to watch Leanne take a flight in a microlight, we tripped up the hills inland of Cairns through the rainforest up onto the Atherton Tablelands. It was strange in some senses to think of the lush and green fields and rolling hills as Australia, mentally having previously assigned a dusty red colour to anything outside of a city.
We saw a huge curtain Fig tree and then managed to find our way to Lake Eacham, a 65m deep volcanic swimming hole! After a spot of lunch took a swim in the refreshing cool water among the hundreds of fish and we even saw a turtle- FINALLY!!
We spent the best part of the afternoon bomb-diving from the jetty, we took a scenic drive home via Millaa Millaa Falls and Russ and Locke.
It is amazing to see such a variety of vegetation, landscape and developments within such a small radius of Cairns.

Wife-Beater?
Hey! Is there an orange stripe on the other side of the wife-beater vest to prove you're a third generation paddy? Sooo cool.
