Times SquareTimes SquareTimes Square

We walked through here loads of times yesterday.
Yesterday I had both the longest and shortest flights of my life. Manchester to London was fine - over really quickly and we got sandwiches and drinks for free! The London-Newark, however, seemed to last a lifetime. I do not fly well, and especially the end part (splitting headache and the roots of my teeth randomly hurting) wasn't much fun. Then we had to go through immigration and that was an equally lovely experience. The guy asked so many questions - and when I said I'd given up my job to go travelling he definitely wasn't impressed. Not sure what difference it makes - if I was here I couldn't be working and earning any more money anyway!

We then got an airbus-monorail-esque vehicle to a random carpark, then there was an airport shuttle to the hotel. The hotel was really nice, I'm glad we stayed local for the first night. We did have a frantic online search yesterday morning for more accomodation though! Stayed at the Continental Hostel last night, and tonight - and going to one called The Broadway tomorrow and the night after that. In a mixed dorm - which should be interesting! The hostel seems fine, very basic but that's what we expected!

Yesterday we had to get the train from New Jersey into New York. The journey was fine, I think we'll end up getting trains a lot because they're quick and cheap around here. We then walked 64 blocks with our backpacks on to out hostel. Was a definite trial by fire! Mum will be shocked to know that my feel were fine though, Aaron was shocked that I didn't complain about them once! There was also ridiculous and unrelenting rain all day. So glad I bought a waterproof jacket before I came here!

We had lunch in a nice place called 'Pax', and tea in some random shopping mall. Both were cheap and very nice.

As far as sightseeing went, we walked up through Broadway so saw Times Square, the Empire State Building and Donald Trump's hotel incidently on the way. later on we walked through Central Park, and looked at the museums - deciding which ones we'll visit when we know how much money we've got to play with.

Today me and Aaron are going our own ways for a while - he wants to look at some building and I'm going to gaze at some clothes that I can't afford/carry. I'm sure I'll manage something cultural too!

It all sounded quite gruelling but you're finally doing it - how cool! How are you managing with the US monster portion sizes? You'll have to eat loads to cancel out all the exercise you're getting. Oh and have subscribed to your update thingumy's. Take care lamb, look after each other xxxxxxxx p.s. It's quite warm here in an english way atleast, i'm avoiding doing anything that doesn't involve rugby (watching not playing) or juice.
