The chapter of Latin America is closing
I am back in Mexico City again, among all the great memories and all the friends.
The exploration of the beauties of Chiapas and Oaxaca ended way too soon. Now I have more questions than I have answers about Mexican Indians, Zapatistas and Mara Salvatruche.
On Monday I left San Cristobal and arrived to Las Margaritas. From there I went to the dzungle La Candona, one of the most beautiful parts of Mexico with cruel and bloody history. I got to know the Zapatismo more closely and I left a letter for Subcommander Marcos.
On Wednesday I left the community and helped one of the Zapatista on the way to Mexico and in Tuxtla I met preachers of the word of Christ. I notice through all my journey that people, that accept me in their homes, give me food and transport, usually don't talk much and the people who talk about God and Christ, many times do not show their faith in their life.
There was no time left to visit Mara Salvatruche in the prison and to visit Palenque and Cañon Sumidero.
Yesterday I lost my digital
recorder with all the reports, so I cannot promise you more voice recordings. Until I find a new way to talk to you, listen to the old audio on www.matejsedmak.com.
To satisfy my curiosity and adventurous spirit, I would have to stay in Chiapas at least a couple more months. I wanted to go deep into the dzungle La Candona, learn the language Toholaval and live and work with the indigenous people, learning how to communicate with rocks, treets and animals and see another perspective on the world.
But I cannot know and experience everything at once. Now it is time to slowly close the chapter of Latin America, go on the journey around Asia and come back home soon enough to continue with the study.
I already know two japanese alphabets - HIRAGANA and KATAKANA. What I need to learn is couple of hundred characters of KANJI and learn conversational Japanese and of course... the plane ticket.
Tomorrow I will go bothering Japan Airlines (again).
Thanks for all of your e-mails. I love reading them. They brighten my day.
From Mexico,

Me encanta leerles. Me hacen el dia.
De Ciudad de Mexico,

Matej Sedmak
