The hostel called Base was much nicer than Townsville
Only spent 2 nights here. The original plan was to stay in Townsville for the two nights and take a day trip to Magnetic Island.

The main attraction in Townsville is the large Army base. (Which is one on the main reasons we decided to stay) However after getting to our hostel and realising what a pit it was, we booked into a hostel on Magnetic Island for the second night.

The first night, Spent in Globetrotters was awful. Mould on the walls, trees growing into the toilets and two of the strangest room mates you can possible imagine. The air conditioner was even run on a metre costing $1 for 99 mins. I have come to the conclusion that i am not cut out for slumming it, especially as the rooms were quite expensive. The evening was rather uneventful, most of the bars and clubs were empty and we only saw a handful of soldiers.

The next day we went to Magnetic Island which was around a 25 min ferry trip from Townsville. The hostel was great with awesome views. The hostel was well set out with lots of space, nice size dorms and a great

cooking hut. It was Debbies birthday so we decided to stay in the hostel where a party was Scheduled.

It was a good evening, although Debbie didnt see much of it. By 10:00pm she was puking her guts up and by 10:30 she had passed out in her bed!! It was quite funny really. She also managed to fall over and cut her knee. We stayed out later drinking all kinds of rubbish, whilst looking at the little 18 year olds headbang. I felt quite old there. At 5 in the morning a group of the little brats decided to sit outside our room and talk (shout). Our other room mate got out of bed and said "Time for bed kids". I thought it was hillarious!

Caught the OZ bus the next day and headed to Airlie Beach

Yummy Easter eggs!
HI Steve, great to hear from you and Wayne. If you have too many Easter Eggs please feel free to post them over to us! Easter is quite a big deal over here. Most shops have been closed for the past couple of days. Weather is getting a bit colder the further down we travel. I still have my trusty Wilson James pen which i use to write in my journal every day. (suprised it hasnt run out yet!). Anyway hope work is going well. Kate x
