From my 'safehouse' in Buenos Aires I travelled to meet Andrew in La Cumbre (Cordoba region) and spend some time on Los Algarrobos projects...A dynamo of a man with elements of Bukowski in him Andrew drives both his car (1929 Ford) and his team with a firm hand. I stayed in his beautiful historical house and chewed over watershed projects he is pushing forward in Argentina. One of the education projects was based in NW region of Jujuj in collaboration with
an associated Institute for lifelong learning.
The Diamond Institute's director Sarah was a great host. We have shared experiences in the outreach education/research in remote mountain schools in the Andes, california-worm-soil-enrichment-compost-project (with dedicated Jorge) and a great day in the clouded forest (with her son's family). Jujuy (and all the people I met) had so much humanity and true cultural taste of the land an it remains one of my favourite parts of Argentina. It could have been the altitude and cocca leaves...

Meeting the young mayor of La Falda who is working on rejuvenating his region. We looked at the problems and potential for the watershed colaboration in the region with the backing from Andrew's Los Algarrobos organisation. Marcos is bringing a glory back to the famous old, palatial hotel Eden. The irony of a Jewish mayor renovating a hotel which housed Hitler and his troups was not lost on him.

Horses have been on top of my favourite animals list for a long time, yet (for various reasons) this was my first time truly riding a horse. Having rounded all the horses riding bareback on wilder one Santiago saddled this tame, lovely for me... Couple of hours of various trots to the river and a weird moment where one of those buses from the fifties chuckled through the floded river with all the fingers crossed that it doesn't seize.
