Cape Byron is (just) the most easterly point on mainland Australia
Bry speaking: In the few days we've been here I have detected at least four distinct scenes. There's the 'we're so chilled' hippy crew; the 'we're so naiive' 18 year old crew; the 'we bloody live here' crew and the 'we're bloody rich' bunch. All in all it strikes me as Pembrokeshire in the sun... those of you who know will recognise all types above. Naturally, there is the angst between the 'we bloody live here' and the 'we're so chilled' who've lived here for quite some time now... as is to be expected, but far less pronounced than Pembs... obviously the sun has chilled everyone out. But, for the most part it is a pretty lovely place to live I reckon. Of course, I haven't mentioned the indigenous people, of which there must be some, of whom the only relic seems to be tourist tat.

Tom speaking: The bus from Brissy got a flat on the way but the driver was pretty efficient sorting it - especially considering we were pulled up by the side of a fairly busy highway, with big semis rolling fast a few feet away.
I like Byron. Loads of quality eateries and coffee

Check out BIG truck whizzing by as driver fiddles with the jack underneath
shops as well as the cracking beach. Thought I'd say a word on Aussie kebabs actually - they're somewhat different from the UK. The bread is a large round flatbread usually spread with some tahini or hummous, then the salad goes on which includes a nice herby tabouleh mix, then the meat which is less lardy than it's UK equivalent. Then the thing is wrapped up (like a wrap) and stuck in the panini press for a couple of minutes. Anyway, it's no question superior to a UK version, and the guys serving take a bit more TLC. Unfortunately forgot to take any piccies.
Never got round to surfing lessons even though we had 4 nights here - somehow our time got 'eaten' up...

That's magic
G'day you two! Tom, I read your description of the aussie kebab and simply had to write. What you are describing sounds exactly like one of our Magic Rolls from the shop on the triangle - now you know where to get one of those aussie kebabs when you're back home! Bry - love the necklace, Tom has excellent taste - well we knew that already! Sounds like you guys like the look of Byron - it does look stunning and sooo sunny. Can we have some please :-) Look forward to the next blog update See ya! Sammy x x x x x x
