Tuesday was a day of exploring the various parts of the city and more shopping time. In the afternoon the girls began to prepare for the Tango Dinner and Dance. For about $8 they got their hair done and nails. You wouldn´t have recognized these girls as a basketball team when they met in the lobby to catch the bus to the show. Dinner started about 9 PM with a 5 course meal. Everyone had finished and the tables were cleared by the start of the show which was around 10 PM. The show was spectacular in colour, dance and song. The live band played from an elevated platform. It was truly a remarkable look at the culture of the Argentinian people. When the show was over it was a race back to the buses through the pouring rain and back to the hotel by 12:30 AM. Today most of the girls were sleeping in late but it will be off to the zoo at 10 AM to visit with some species that are not found in the North American continent. If we are lucky, we may be able to attend the La Boca Junior basketball teams practice session this afternoon from 3-6 PM.

We took the subway this morning to the Buenos Aires Zoo. It has many species native to the Southern Hemisphere. There are many, many parks and plazas located in this city making for very beautiful scenery. After the Zoo some of the group went shopping and some went to the Evita Museum, which is dedicated to the life of Evita Peron. If you visit Argentina you need to do a little research on the life of this woman. Her life is engrained into the Argentinian psyche. It is a very interesting story and even more bizarre are the events that occured after her death. Check out what happens to her body from her death in July 1952, her two week funeral and then her final resting spot in Recoleta Cementery in 1976.

After returning to the hotel we took taxis over to the Boca sports complex and watched the men's basketball practice. It is always interesting to see how other countries train their athletes and this experience was very enlightening. Tonight everyone is out shopping or eating and then it is early to bed as tomorrow is a big day...."Game day Blues"....which starts with an 8 AM bus departure to the city of Tigre and a walking tour as well as a boat tour. At about 12 we head over to Lincoln High School (an international school located just outside Buenos Aires).

Ola
Ola from Cuba, its sounds like you are all having a wonderful time. Maybe some of those new tango moves that I am sure you have all learnt could be used on the court next season. I love reading the blog. Great shopping ladies!
