Chengdu - the Bejing of Sichuan. Wide avenues and junctions, many department store, huge supermarkets, and western top designer stores. le noa kaav ha lev. amarti la - lo nora nikne be sof ha tiol.
The tzfifut of the Macdonalds resturants is higher than in New York - noa approved.
On contrary to the lonley planet book, that wish that the city will stay jiffa as it used to be, the chines have built a modern city and resereved few streets with the old arcituctre, although very commertial (suveners shops, fancy restaurants and starbuck's coffee).
There are some impressive temples and nice parks with tea houses, were we enjoyed reading a book and some interesting kinds of teas.

One of the parks we meet unsurprisingly Mr. lee - 37 years old tourist guide that hang around that park and catch the western tourist to offfer his services. Of course he has a notebook with recommandations in all languages.
He looks like yeled debil with 3 sweaters , shirt closed up to his neck, a cap and school bag.
He is reading now an interesting book - "how to make buisiness with jewish people" - I tried to explain him its not the best book to learn about our people, yet he admires us jews.
Nexy afternoon he took us to a local sichuan oprea show. It was a real authentic show. although the actors were not of the first line.
First we saw them getting ready backstage, doing there own makeup. Then we joined the audiance - only retired old chines - each one with his tea bottle (yes - it is a kind of bottle) - we got also two cups of tea.
The show was maybe 3 hours, but we left after the break. we had the best seats at the first line, and we were the only white people. Our guide set behind us and explained us simulanicaly what is happaning.

But he most impressive thing in chengdu is our guest house - Sim's cozy geust house.
Sim is from Singapor , muki - his wife is japanes. They have two duaghters - 5 and 2years old - the latter stole the show - runnig with her hitul over the guesthouse yard with some of the staff babysitting her. I took pictures of both girls beacuse I didn't want the older to feel neglected - but she gave me a look saying: azov oti be ima shelha.

Sim's knows what we the westerns need. For not a cheap price (120Y for a double room)
we got free internet, bar and good food (of course for extra money). Japanes style garden , free advice, ping pong table, free dvd's and the highlight - dvd player in our room. for 200y you can get the family room with wi-fi. And the toilet paper is a big one - good for almost two days!
