So we're finally here on the second day of our round the world trip! We arrived safely although very confused about time differences and delirious with jet lag on monday night. We were standing in a cold taxi line at JFK surrounded by snow drifts worrying over the potential cost of our first taxi to manhattan when we befriended a san francisco businessman who offered us his cab which japanese business man were paying for. Stupid girls I hear you cry but we had a jolly ride to manhattan listening to Tom - who used to live in Brixton complain about yupppies taking over the world - he is staying at the park avnue hotel(!) - he also used to go to the Coyote ugly bar - our first claim to fame.
Out of the taxi in manhattan and due to my unbalanced bag I fell head first into a snow drift! We were welcomed by sam's grandma with a big plate of chicken prepared for us. neither of us vegetarians knew where to look.
on tuesday we explored manhattan dazzled by the beautiful snow and sunshine. We spent about seven hours walking on our first day and went all over central park looking at stunning views from the top of belvedere castle and at the slightly odd John Lennon sculpture park. The imagine statue had an apple with a plastic rose in it. Then we walked the whole way along broadway looking at the garish lights then went in SAKS fifth avenue and Tiffany. We had an exhausting yet exhilharating first day.

Pastries vs Ice Cream
When you got to Tiffany's - Were you wearing a black dress and eating a danish whilst staring longingly after a hard nights work on the town? Or did you have an ice cream cone instead like Audrey wanted? Travel blogs are a welcome break from digitizing Labour propaganda. Hope you are having fun x x x
