I can’t believe it’s already been three months since my last post… it scares me how fast the year is flying!! This blog is dedicated to bringing you the updates of my last three months…

The biggest of which is my trip to Ireland over the Feb 16-18 weekend. The time in Dublin was my Christmas gift from David. We went with our friends Chris and Mel, and the weekend getaway was definitely a nice change from my solo, lengthy backpacking trips. Having survived yet another Ryan Air flight we kicked the weekend off in Temple Bar, a cultural quarter that’s quite touristy. From the pub’s cosy window sill and a pint of Guiness in one hand, I truly got to enjoy the lively nightlife Dublin offers, watching dozens of hen parties (aka staggettes) stroll by. Guiness is surprisingly smooth, unfortunately mixing it with Baileys for the Car Bomb experience was exactly that, a curdling bomb in my belly! 😞 I think I ate enough to help comfort it though- including Irish stew, a chinese meal on the eve of Chinese Year of the Dog and mouth watering dessert in the

Queen of Tarts

.

It’s been great being back in London.

As I had such a great but quick Christmas holiday, it took time to remind me why I love it so much here in the face of the saddness of really missing the family. Yet reuniting with friends for New Years was a great start to 2007. Also right after my return from Canada, my best friend’s bro Vinu came over from Edmonton. After finding him in Victoria at the bus stop (I’ve never seen a person so happy to see me!) I dragged him on the underground waaay east to Putney to collect some of my stuff from when I lived out there. I then took him to Dickens Inn around the corner from where I live for my fav local spot for pizza. Vinu loved his trip abroad and even caught the travel bug- what a feat! I look forward to our big trip one day!

More recently London keeps teasing us with the weather and giving us a few weeks of good sun. But the sun abandoned us today and it snowed on my way home !! Still, I can’t complain as I am well aware of the winter weather I could be facing instead.
Happy Mother's Day Mum!Happy Mother's Day Mum!Happy Mother's Day Mum!

This past Sunday was England's Mother's Day.

Aside from work and weather watching I’ve just been enjoying my time in my new neighborhood, Tower Hill, with my wonderful boyfriend. We’ve been self-teaching ourselves Spanish, one of our main goals for the year. So I’ll be using some Spanish words in my blogs to show off how well we’re doing!! I also got to catch up with an old friend Jamen during his visit to London this past week. While I’m meeting and getting to know great people at my new job and through David and his friends, I don’t always feel like I have my own friends here. That’s why seeing Jamen again felt like seeing an old friend. It’s also always a laugh to think I flew all the way to London to have the first person I meet be from Calgary! All in all, life is great and my time in London continues to be a blast.

My Aunt and Nenek are coming across the pond to London on Thursday for their month long trip abroad. I’m so excited and am sure I will have updates and photos to share after their visit. I still have some pending vacation plans and some great travels
