After 3 and a half months in Central America (and Mexico) the spick and span Gaslamp district in San Diego was like Disney World. Cleaner, wider streets, plusher bistro style restaurants with the blue handblown wine glasses, white plates the size of cart wheels adorned with a single prawn and the hub of earnest American chatter. For dinner we headed to an "authentic" Mexican eatery (with our ID) for a taste of yesterday.

This is my backyard!
So you ended up in Downtown on your way to LA. You were about a mile away from my (old) home. I have a condo in Little Italy which is in the northwestern part of DT. First rule of Southern California-the dirtier and lower grade Mexican restaurant (sometimes literally just a hole in the wall) the better the food! All in all I hope SD wasn't too pretentious for you. Personally, I've had my fill and am moving up to San Francisco when I get home (in about 2 days). It was lovely to meet you both. As I'm sure I have said several times already, you two are a beautiful couple and I wish you all the best. If you ever feel inclined to come back to California please look me up! Cheers, Adrian (redhead from Nile rafting trip)
