More crazy keyboards. Ahhhh!

For those of you wondering what has happened to me, this e-mail to my parents is the best I can do at this point. Sorry!!!

Hi guys!

I know it has been ages since I posted on the blog, but there have been some problems. The internet in Amsterdam seemed unreasonably pricy, so I opted to wait until we got to Brussels to just do a mammoth update then since we had a lot of time to kill until we could meet our friend from Thailand, Vicky, who has invited us to stay with her for a few days (she's so great!). However, once we got to Brussels, not only was the internet not thaaaaat much cheaper, but the keyboard was unbelievably different!!! It's not like Germany where just a couple, not very important letters are switched. Almost everything is really different, including such important key as a,m, and "." These changes made typing anything of length virtually impossible. I have to say, though, that after a bit of time here, I'm getting a little better, although the m still gets me.

So, now I'm staying with wonderful Vicky in Erps Kwerps (which is not pronounced like that at allllll), and she is being the perfect hostess. I wanted to let you know, though, that Julia Eastman, the university secretary, sent me an e-mail to let me know that I had been elected. Yea!!! Thanks SO much, Dad, for all the work that you did to make that possible.

I have so much to write about Amsterdam, and now Elps Kwelps, but even Vicky's keyboard here is quite different. I'll see how used to it I can get and maybe I'll be able to do a blog update.

Hi Jess, Elps Kwelps - what a great name when pronounced by a Canadian tongue. Is the Dutch/French/German pronunciation equally smile-inducing?

If you are using XP, you can choose your language options, which includes keyboard mapping. There may be a small FR in the taskbar at the bottom which you can change to EN. Otherwise, there are date/language options in the Control Panel.
