Snazzy houses
Sorry for all the unrelated pictures. These are some houses near Vondelpark. Each of the houses is supposed to represent a different country's architecture. All I remember is that the pink one is French. You know those really annoying people that sit outside trendy touristy areas and shove flyers in your face that promote some sort of tourist trap or rip off when all you want to do is enjoy your vacation without being disturbed?
Yeah, that's what I do.
Actually the job is a lot of fun and people seem less annoyed than I imagine they would. Most of the people approach you with questions and it feels really good when you're able to help them. You get to strike up conversations with people from all over the world and even (as was the case of two Canadian girls) get in some pictures. I got to chit chat with people from Germany, Spain, America, and Poland. They all wanted to know what I was doing here, where the best places to party were (I'm so the wrong person to ask), and how to get to the Van Gogh museum. It also helps that I feel strongly about what I'm promoting. It's a pretty quality comedy club in a good area for a decent enough price. I'm glad I picked up a job while here. I have a lot of random blocks of
2-4 empty hours in my days, which isn't long enough to go sightseeing really, but is enough time to get a work shift in. The perks are good, I get some money, I get to meet all sorts of people, I have something to fill my time, and I get to get out of the CIEE student bubble.
More interesting pictures to come eventually. I'm going to try to hit up the Van Gogh museum this weekend and mayhaps the Anne Frank house?

Job sounds great! What locale(s) do you promote the comedy club? Are comedians speaking English, Dutch, German, etc? Is the humor similiar to humor here? Enjoy the Van Gogh Museum when you attend. It's mind-boggling to see so many of his paintings at one time in one place. Glad you are taking time to go out and have fun. Is it springtime yet? We begin daylight savings time on March 11th.
