In zacharys
ready to drink?yes sir i am! Hi everybody!
As usual - out travelling! I went to Malaysia almost one month ago (yesyes i am slow..and I will write all the postcards SOON 😊
I am not going to write so much about Langkawi due to all of my other blogs but I have met alot of really nice people and again: canadian people rock! I don't think I have ever met anyone from Canada that sux yet! MUAH TO YOU GUYS!
We were in Langkawi for two weeks first, catching up with friends and celebrating Zam's (and sandras) birthday! Drinking all night with good people, cakes, good malaysian food...yummy 😊
Oh all the nice places to see, where to go what to do.. We decided that we wanted one week outside of Langkawi! I wasn't too crazy about Thailand, I have been to Bangkok and it is just noisy and full of fuzzy stuff! but allright - Thailand gets another chance! Plus I wanted to go and see my sister which was in Tonsai beach outside of Ao Nang,Krabi - so we went!
Thailand - Railay Beach/ Tonsai beach
We left Langkawi on the 11th of February, took a ferry
Food
yummyyyy to Satun in Thailand! The ferry takes about one hour and 15 minutes and will take you straight to Thailand! Went through immgration and all of that stuff, another stamp in my passport and took a tuktuk into Satun "city". Satun is a very small place, it is mainly a drop off zone for people crossing the boarder. We had to wait for the bus for almost two hours, walked around and looked at shops in the mean time, just relaxing with the others and passing time.
Took the bus up to Krabi, which took us about 5-6 hours with some stops! From there we had to deal with people and their prices again, the first person wanted 400bahts to take us to the pier in Ao Nang and the second person wanted 250bahts, in the end we found tuktuk transport for 50 bahts each! We didn't have to much time since we were trying to catch the boat office before they closed, we thought we were going straight to the pier but no.. the driver went around the whole city to cram in so many people as he possibly could, it was full in the front, inside the tuktuk, people had
Outside Joe
Chelsea and Chris (and zack)- with their famous hockey shirt! muah to you guys! to stand behind and i am surprised he didn't put people up on the roof too!
Well made it to the pier and took a longtail boat over to Tonsai beach, which is about a ten minute drive. I was horrified, I am scared of tiny boats with too many people in and I am guessing I was white in my face when we arrived (then again, i am a sissy :P)
Tonsai and Railay beach is mainly for backpackers and it is a rockclimbers heaven! You can also find a couple of other beaches with more luxurious places to live, no problem if you have the money 😊
The beach was packed with people everywhere, longtail boats and people screaming "aonang?aonang!aonangaonangaonangAONAAAAAAANG!!" "tonsai?tonsai!tonsaitonsaitonsaitonsaaai!tonsaiiiii!" (for your convenient information, it is possible to walk between tonsai and railay beach, it is hard and might be a little bit difficult in the nighttime after a couple of beers! Be Not In Despair - the longtail boat people will "only" charge you 50bahts for a 1 1/2 minute drive over in the evening!)
You can only see the beach when you are arriving but after a while you can see small tracks
in thailand..
say where are we?? leading into the jungle! Follow the track and what do you get? A backpacker village! Seriously, it is like a tiny town or village which you could live in permanently, I felt like I was in some kind of a weird backpacker cult in the jungle! ooooh lay down, let's worship the big backpacker God!
Reggaebars, local shops, beachclothes, italian coffee?More bars, tracks leading to a zillion tiny bungalows, laundry, thai massage. In the middle of the jungle! Hm. strictly for backpackers 😊
Rented a bungalow which cost us 700bahts per night but after hearing June's horrific stories about spiders, monkeys and scorpions(!) in their 350baht bungalows..well... i guess 700bahts was allright for a couple of nights! i really don't mind monkeys, even though I was actually bitten by a monkey a couple of days before Thailand. (that was my own fault though, never give a muffin to the monkey while sitting down! that equals chewing on the hand!) but having scorpions biting me in the ass in the darkness.. tempting, but some other time 😊
We had a big bungalow with rock hard beds, shower and a toilet you can flush automatically - luxury ;P Zam made the place bug proof,
The tuktuk
wee dirty and hot!after many many many hours of travelling! with mosquito spray/smoke and small balls we bought in Malaysia to keep bugs away. Hey we didn't see any bugs, except for one tiny ant trying to survive in my shower..
Went to dinner in some kind of place,we were starving and been traveling for almost half a day. Felt a little bit sorry for Zam though since he really does not like Thailand but came anyway. What to eat what to eat no malay food ;P
Cheeseburger!yummy! i suck at eating local food - i know!
June was travelling with 7(!) other girls and almost every single one of them has been throwing up since they got there..hmm could it be the food or lack of hygiene in the restaurants? I went for the cheeseburger with fries and picked off the salad!
We went down to the beach later in the evening, sitting down with a beer on the beach, looking at the stars and smelling...pot. a whole lot of pot! the beach reeked of pot and god knows what, people laying around with shiny eyes and looking up on god knows what! (which reminds me of "no problem" guesthouse in cambodia, a whole other story though!) i
Tonsai beach
the view from our bungalow, we were living all the way up in the jungle! dont mind other people smoking pot but the intense smell kinda took away the charm in Tonsai! Order a bucket of Sangsum and you will get a free joint! Not my kinda style but hey.. 😊
We stayed there for two days i think, went to the beach and saw the rockclimbers everywhere, trying to get up! And let me tell you, it's huge rocks trying to climb! I was really impressed but offcourse: there was this local rastafari dude there, sitting under the tree and playing his guitar, doing some yoga.. suddendly he came over, looking at the rocks, breathing in and out before he became Spiderman2! He would be jumping up the rock, going sideways, jumping up to tall rocks, climbing in between.. without any ropes or safety! Mucho impressive to watch! (allright he has probably been doing it for 10-20 years but still..)
Well we left after two days or so, it wasn't really sad to leave ehe. too much people, too crowded, too much pot and we learned that the owners of the bungalows didn't had any spare keys to the room...but they are really good at picking up the door locks! almost like profesionals ^^... say no
Tonsai beach
bungas all the way! more.
But beautiful! Really beautiful! Nice dark caves and a paradise for you crazy rockclimbers out there!!
We left Tonsai beach and Ao Nang for damdamdamdam Koh Phangan! Not much to write about the island really, it was quiet and peaceful.. not to mention BEAUUUTIFUL! "Fanta Guesthouse" rock in every single way a guesthouse is able to rock 😊 One word of caution: I have never seen it before but the water is filled up with tiny fishes, yeah they look innocent enought. Suddendly they started gathering up into large groups - and attacked! Shit... that was painful! They bit me all over my body, while I was halfway screaming and splashing through the water, trying to make it alive to the beach 😉 The other people laughed hard - before the fish decided to turn around and attack them! HAH :D Good times hehe...
