Flying through the sky!

Been in Cairns (or KENS as they seem to call it), for 3 days now. The night i arrived there was rain. Rain? In australia? Still nice and warm though...but humid and damp. Spent the next day wandering round town, getting my bearings. Its a nice town, quite big...but mostly filled up with japanese people and booking offices for various activities. Hostel is right on the esplanade, which overlooks the beach...this would be nice if there was a beach! there's a tiny tiny bit of sand and the sea is a no-go area because of the stingers! Its ok though, right at the end of the esplanade is "the lagoon"- basically a big swimming pool for all to use! It gets pretty busy down there but its nice!

Yesterday...at 7.30am...I jumped 14,000 out of a plane! It was the most awesome experience of my life! I was soooooo excited...all the way up to a certain point in the plane when i suddenly was struck with terror! I think it was when we got above the clouds...thats pretty high up! It was soo amazingly scary/exciting/everything! The freefall was cold...but really fun...the parachute bit seemed to take forever for us to get anywhere, it was pretty admiring the views of the rainforests and barrier reef! I was so charged up afterwards! MMMMM amazing! I wanna do it again...right now!

Spent a short time at the lagoon- got a bit sunburnt- it hurts today!

The afternoon was spent white-water rafting! This was hugely disappointing. It was a bit inconsistant- we had to keep stopping to wait for the other boats and there were only a few good rapidy bits. It was pretty scary...the river was dirty! I didnt fall out though! Maybe i just couldn't relax and enjoy it!

Today- its POURING with rain! ENGLAND STYLE! but its warmish. Im gunna wait til it dies off a bit though. I was meant to go to fitzroy island today but everything seems to be hurting! I used a lot of muscles yesterday...and its raining...and it was a free thing anyway so no loss! I wouldn't fancy sitting on a beach in the rain anyway! Hmmm!

Hi Laura - Haven't had time to read all your blogs but just read the last one - parachuting is awesome - I did a tandem skydive in NZ - were you with someone else? Scary, but easier when with an expert! My pupils were so dilated when I reached the ground, from pure excitement! Hope the rest of your trip continues to be a blast. See you at Easter (hopefully!!!!)
