The Americans can't get us here!
We are still on Koh Ngai. We had to move to a hotel up the beach as our bungalow was fully booked for the Chinese New Year (yesterday).

We looked round the hotel and were really impressed by how peaceful it was. There was no-one at all at the pool on the top floor. We booked in and got a great room which has a water feature in the bathroom. The views, as we are now up the side of a hill, are amazing. Unfortunately, about the same time we arrived a group of about 27 Americans (with loads of kids) moved in for Chinese New Year (apparently the parents work in China). They instantly took over the hotel like a pack and can be heard shouting to each other (even if they are only a foot apart) no matter where you go. We are sure not all Americans have this attitude but haven't met many who act in a civilised, considerate manner! Still, at least they are quiet at night.

The next day, we were joined by about 40 Thai people, also to celebrate New Year. They are perfectly nice people but we are feling a little out

It is great to have a room so high up the hill (although there are a fair amount of steps involved).
numbered.

We think we get the hotel back on Wednesday when, we are told, it goes down to a 6 room occupancy. Just how we like it!

We have had a trek to the other side of the island. It takes you through a real jungle and there are fantastic sounds from the monkeys and birds. Waking up here is like being in a avery, you don't need an alarm clock.

We have had great weather but there have been storms the last two nights. We have enjoyed watching the lightning from our roof-top pool.
