Summer in Auckland has been everything that we could have hoped for and more. We have had the opportunity to visit amazing beaches, go snorkeling at a marine reserve, and enjoy some sweet beach parties. However, sometimes things don't always work out as planned....let me explain.
We decided to visit another George FM Beach party, since we had so much fun at the last one in Orewa. This time we had our day planned so well. The cooler was packed, the lawn chairs were ready, and we were arriving early to find parking. Our set up at the party was perfect, under a tree for shade, but still close to all the action. To keep with the Corona party tradition they announced the start of the limbo competition, the prize, a Corona Skin Board!! Melissa thought that a new skin board would be a great summer toy, and of course, I mentioned how good I was at Limbo competitions in the past. So without further delay I jumped into the limbo line and danced under the bar without complication. The Corona girls dropped the bar down, and again no problem. When the bar was dropped for the third time the pressure

in my knees must have been too much, and POP! I completely dislocated my left kneecap and came down hard. The DJ announced to the party that they just had their first "Limbo accident" and if anyone with medical training could please come to the front. Melissa had just taken a picture of me and was shocked to see me on the ground in pain. In no time, Melissa was there to help, and the photographer for the radion staion was snapping shots of my leg.

Check out this link to the George FM website to see pictures from the party, and my injury. My picture is in the 11th row from the top second one in. GeorgeFM

Within a couple of minutes there was a physiotherapist beside me. She quickly popped my knee back into place and advised me to get medical help right away. I hopped back to the car and Melissa grabbed all of our stuff. As we started driving, we realized that we don't know where the hospital was, and had to refer to our mapbook for directions. Of course Paul and Sally were out of town, so we were on our own. Finally we found Auckland Hospital, where we went through the typical 6 hour emergency room routine. After some Xrays, Codine, and a Knee brace, we were out of there. Thankfully we had our friends Carl and Steph come to our aide, to drive the car home and stop for some more painkillers. Throughout the whole day Melissa and I had to laugh at the days events, I mean really, who injures themselves doing the LIMBO?!?!?
