We found a guesthouse on "Love Lane" and stayed for one night and switched to another guesthouse on the second day. We stayed in Penang for 5 nights in total.

There are many "Clan Houses", built by the early Chinese immigrants. They now form a major tourist attraction trail.

We found we can use our Cantonese almost anywhere.

Many homes and clan houses are gearing up for Chinese New Year and they put up red lanterns and red banners.

While in Penang, we spent time in visiting the historical buildings, including the clan houses. We also went to the beach (Batu Ferringhi), which is an hour by local bus. It is a nice beach and a nice getaway, there are guesthouses in the beach area as well.

Trip to Penang Island
Its so cold in New Jersey, I have decided to live vicariously through the two of you. I'm so jealous. Wish Cecilia and I could join you.

Your must try the Shrimp noodle and fry noodle. There is one very famous (but I'm forget the name) one in the street. You can check with your guesthouse.
