The Fastest boat on the Island...
This explains how fast life is on Koh Lipe...Hi again all...
Well I had just left Lao this morning and was in the city of Nong Khai... But just seeing the place I knew that I had to leave as soon as i could... My plan at that moment was to find a train station and get to that dirty city called Bangkok... That way I could have enough time to find a nice place to relax on a beach.... I found the train station and got a ticket to Bangkok for 688Baht... That was for a sleeper and the train left at 6pm that evening... That gave me about 5hrs to check out this small town... So I just walked around the town and along the Mekong looking at the other side that was Lao.... I allready miss the place.... On my way back to the train station their were some guys that had some R/C plains and I sat there for about 20mins trying to take some Pics of them... That was the best 20mins of the whole day.... i found my berth and read for awhile until it was time to go to sleep... I also figured out that i would head to the southern
part of Thailand and check out a place Songkhla... Now the only reason that i picked this place waas because it was close to Malaysia where I was going to head next... But as you all know things change all the time when you travel as I will find out later....
I woke up around 6am as the train was pulling into Bangkok... Now off the train it was time to buy a ticket to Hat Yai where I could then get a mini bus to Songkhla... I got the ticket for 900B and it would leave the next day at 230pm... So that meant that I was going to stay in Bangkok for one night.... i found a nice place across from the train station for 450B and then started to explore my surroundings... What was nice was that I was going to see something different then the last time I stayed here... I did keep myself busy for the most part of the day but around 2pm I just wanted to go home and do some reading... The smog in this city was just to much for me and I had a splitting Headache... I read for
about 3hrs and then watched a movie on the TV and just went to bed....
I woke up the next morning and went to change some money... It was funny that the Canadian Dollar went to shit in the last three months against the Thai Baht... It lost 3B apposed to when I was here the last time... What the hell is Harper doing there in Canada... I ended upp using my American T/C instead... I then went to find a good coffee and went to another market to kill some time until I caught the train to Hat Yai... When it was time I boarded my train and found out that I was going to have a beautiful Thai girl as company with me.... her name was Urma... Now the problem here was that She was Thai and I was a foreigner and other people just thought that she was a hooker and I was her sugar daddy...LOL... Not the case but people still stared at us...LOL... We talked most of the trip and had a good time... When she went to bed I met up with these two French guys named Neco and Mark... They were on
their way over to some Island called Ko Lipe.... After spending an hour with them nd hearing about their trip and where they were going I went to bed myself....
I woke up around 6am and went to the dinning car for a cup of Joe... The train coffee isn't that bad...lol... The French guys came in and we talked for a bit and I asked if I could join them to Ko Lipe... They said sure and that was that... I wasn't going to Songkhla.... We decided to meet up on the train platform when we got off the train and just take it from there... I went back to my berth and Urma was awake and I might say that she did look nice after just waking up... I told her that I was changing my plans and was now going to head to Ko Lipe.... I think that she was a little disappointed because we were going to meet up in Hat Yai but I did tell her that on my way back to Bangkok I would meet up with her.... It must be the Glasses...LOL.... When we got to Hat Yai I said good bye
to Urma and said hello to Neco and Mark...We went out of the train station and got the usually mugging by the touts.... We just said NO, NO, NO.... But this one guy just wouldn't leave us alone... The boys need to find a bank machine and we found one and then we need to find a way to get to Pak Bara pier so that we could catch a boat to the Is of ko Lipe... Once again this guy shows up telling us how we should go to PaK Bara and we just kept trying to ignore him... We found two different options, one by bus and the other by Mini van... But every time we tried to make a deal this guy just started to talk to the guy in Thai and I just we weren't getting anywhere with this guy on our heels... So we just went and grabbed the Mini van for 120B and got out of the place... The ride took about an hour and a half and the another tout found us and the others that were on the Mini van and there was a ferry leaving in ten mins and the cost
was 550B... We didn't try to see if we could find a cheaper deal anywhere because we all just wanted to get to the Island... So we bought our ticket from the Tout and went to the pier and jumped on the boat... It took about 3hrs to make the Island and the ride to me was just awesome... Now let me tell you a little about Ko Lipe... Ko Lipe is in the Ko Tarutao National Marine Park... its part of the archipealago of 50 odd Islands in the most southern part of Thailand.... Now once we reached Ko Lipe the boat stops in the middle of the bay where you now have to catch a long tail boat that will take you to shore at a cost of 50B...The lads and I jumped on one of the boats and we headed to a place called Porn Beach...LOL... Hey I didn't name the place and the french want to go there so why was I going to argue...LOL...At porn Beach they had Bungalows on the beach for 350B per night and I knew that this was going to be home for a week and I was going to love
every moment of it.l... The was a beach with a corral reef in front of my bungalow, i had a front porch with a hammock this was LOVE...Now the people next to me were French and Spanish Melody and Raul... and me and Raul got on quite good because he liked to play chess and because he scored some pot on the Island...LOL... Now I haven't had a Puff in three months and that was because I didn't want to learn a new language in Jail but I did break my rule and had a few Puffs while I was on the Island... So instead of telling you all what I did every day Ill just give you alll the short form.... I woke up... I went for breakfast... i went swimming and or Snorkeling.... I sat in my Hammock and read my books... Went out for dinner with the French and Spanish... Came home and played chess with Raul and had a Puff... And sat around reading my book some more.... That was what I basically did for a week, all in that order and Ive got my Tan back and finished a book and a half and I
feel rested now... This was a good week... Now I would like to say that Ko Lipe doesn't have a lot of tourist on it just yet... This place is only about 1KM Square and the corral reefs that surround the Is was very much damaged by the 2004 tsunaimi and the reef are just starting to grow back and Im sure in a few more years that you will see some more fish swimming in the reefs... But I still saw a fair amount of fish everyday....
So people that's what I did and I had a great relaxing time on the Island.... I going to Malaysia next so please keep up your interest with my blog...

Hey Mike! Read your blog sound great! I lived in that part of the world for a while so I can associate with your experiences. Keep the update email and I'll read your progress. Send an email some time and if you make your way further south to AUS come see me and Andrew in Tassie.
