We'd booked ourselves onto a jet-boat combined with heli ride, and bright and early we emerged from our hostel via the nearest bakery to catch the bus. The 'Shotover jet' is basically a fast boat that takes the passengers on a zoom-through ride in the Shotover river canyon... hurtling through a steep sided canyon while getting drenched was certainly a good wake up!

The heli ride gave some awesome views of the surrounding areas. It stopped off on 'the Remarkables' - Queenstown's nearest mountain range and winter ski resort - with again, most excellent panoramas.

Back in Queenstown I decided to book in for the 'Canyon Swing'. Basically a modified bungy jump, involving 60 m free fall followed by flying through the canyon on a piece of string! (Albeit a big piece of string). In the mean time, the weather called for a dip in the lake... brrr, clear but very cold!

So came the time for my big jump... We were driven away from QT by bus to the Shotover canyon, just up from where the jet boats run. There are numerous 'jump styles' including 'the pin drop' and 'gimp boy goes to holywood'. I opted for a forwards jump (although it was more like 'frog style' to be honest). Standing on the edge looking down was certainly one of the most surreal things I can recall - "so, i jump?... down... there... ?" The rush was pretty incredible, so much so, i opted for a second jump - "Elvis cuttaway" style.

In the evening we explored Queenstown some more, reflecting on the days events.
